return to your back yard. Florida's climate and geography alone are not ever even acquired tastes for some, and many people who come so hopefully return to the family and friends they left.

if the first two don't get you on land, the iguanas get you from above.

i've read they actually fall out of trees when the temps reach a certain level

A lot like our herd of deer in GA, I suppose, but to me much less charming. We're looking forward to a new generation of fawns playing in our little pasture.

One thing, trees can get above their reach to survive and stop baking rays before they reach our houses, and we and the earth need MORE TREES.

with his partner (gay) trying to escape rural (!) CA's liberalism. Oh, yeah, great decision!

We haven't spoken in years, but he doesn't understand anything, demonizes what he doesn't understand (how did this happen to such a sweet, fun guy!), and that means he can't be happy anywhere. They've retired to a new home on a pond in a very pretty gated subdivision in FL, though, and I hope they find comfort there. (tRump's part of FL, not a coincidence I'm sure.)

Joke's on them... it's going to sink in a couple years so a mass magamigration is fine with me. Maybe a bunch of them will leave here for the warm Florida beaches.

isn't going to disappear any time soon.

But the joke's on those who think they'll now be FL's problem too. As I said above, large numbers who do actually leave their "here" will be returning when they realize not only that some neighbors there don't invite them over either, but their new little low-maintenance houses without trees and leaf rakes turn into ovens every summer in a climate that's trying to kill them, not just their tiny lawns.

There are genuinely good reasons to move to Florida, but fantasy immersion in MAGAland isn't one of them. And there are always MAGAs where they came from, without the alligators.

Why? She couldn't bear the idea of her 5 year old starting kindergarten in DeSatan's public schools. she's back in Tennessee, which isn't much better, but the town she's in isn't too bad, and at least it's not FloriDUH.

Florida's been a quick getaway point from N. America for shady characters, which is why I'd bet they've all been in FL for a long while. Wilbur Ross, former head of Commerce, also lives down the road from him, as did deceased Rush Limbaugh.

it was crazy, but a good (mostly) kind of crazy. We were planning on moving to Key West which had always been a dream of ours, but then Covid hit. And then DeDouchebag. As much as we love the keys, we feel like we might have dodged a bullet. So....still happily living in SoCal....we can always visit...
