Been trying to Google what all will be affected by the shutdown.

But I can get is info that reassures stuff like social security payments and USPS with deliver mail and such. Basically the results coming up is as if the algorithm is trying to keep people calm.

Nothing talking about the national parks or all the other stuff we all know is going to be unavailable.

My question is if any other DUer have noticed this?
The whole thing is makes think of that meme of the guy setting in a kitchen thats on fire that says "everything's fine "

Last time I was able to Google the lowdown. This time seems to be different.

There is no precedent and any federal judge could declare any spending is illegal and all payments must stop.

The only thing we have precedent for is a government shutdown in the event budgets don't get passed. That case is covered by a federal law that let's essential services continue.

A default would not have law to fall back on.

You could get list of affected agencies and how they were going to be shut down like the federal parks and what ones are going to be still open but not all services, like social security of an example.

But from what I see this time, I should say not see, it's more like reassurance instead of giving us the jagged pill.

When the 1st gets closer it will probably change. But I would think there would be mor information for us to see...

Only essential services can continue.

But there is federal law that establishes that protocol for only budget impasse.

It doesn't cover a default.

People can write whatever they want. The feds can try to keep operating however they want.

Until one judge rules otherwise. And we both know that judge is out there.

Invoke the 14th Amendment. And then we're in it for sure.

I need the information. I can't meet with them all at once and scheduling with them is hard enough without a shit down.
And they are notorious for call to reschedule. Right now I'm trying to move the federal government stuff up and the state stuff to after the 1st.
It would be nice to know what ones would still be somewhat working or totally close so I know who I need to fight with to move things up and what ones can go as scheduled.

And I need rest period so I can travel to the different offices. I absolutely can't do it all in a group. I have to space them.

if the debt ceiling isn’t raised: printing it. Granted it would be inflationary, but probably not as disastrous as defaulting.

Under default, the fed govt couldn't pay any debt, including salaries, to any party.

Having more cash doesn't help if you can't spend it.

Default is the disaster everybody claims it is.

It is an armed nuc in the middle of every city in the country.

And McCarthy wants them to go off.

They can't pay existing debts. That is what default means - that we default on all debt.

That includes paying bills, and paychecks, which by definition po n is debt.

They don't deliver my mail. I have to rely on UPS, FedEx, or just about anyone else other than USPS. Can't wait for DeJoy to be shown the door.

Stock up if you can, hunker down. I believe that Joe will use his power to avoid the problem. Never forget what these bastard Repubs are doing to you. Right now, the worry and stress of it is hurting you. We are in a cold Civil War 2. We can't let them win by falling to the wayside.

I am a believer that a person should know as much as possible about a problem. So, I don't blame you for looking around. Use music, exercise and laughter to alleviate stress and beat back the blues. We'll get through it!

Joe is out there calming nations at the G7. He's doing a good job! I am so proud of him. We are so lucky to have him and Kamala at the head of the team!
