Too many Republicans are way too quiet with the attacks on our democracy and on the rule of law.
Perhaps they see it as a political advantage if they just sit back quietly and say nothing?
Perhaps they don't want to be attacked by those that are attacking America's democracy, so they stand silently on the sideline?
In truth, they are no different than the good German soldiers that marched with the Nazis during the unspeakable horrors of WWII. They are complicit.
How else are we supposed to see it?

(11,869 posts)I have been saying this for years. They are complicit!
I keep hearing about the moderate, reasonable Republicans.
WHERE ARE THEY? Why are they not standing in front of a row of microphones on the Capitol steps declaring their opposition to MAGA?
I call bullshit. The entire party has been corrupted. They all have to go
right down to local dog catchers.

(8,917 posts)Those that support Lincoln Project.
But those moderates in congress, can't afford pi$$ing off the party, so they act like they don't support the Lincoln Project, which makes them complicit.

(11,869 posts)Those "moderates" can't have it both ways.
PS: the Lincoln party folks are not our friends. They stand for almost all of the lousy politics that brought us Trump.
I call them the Grave Robbers. They brought all of the rotten policy body parts to the lab, and now they don't like the monster that resulted.
Not forgiven.

(1,461 posts)The GOP is America's National Socialist Party.
Those that support the same are the same.
Germany rightly abolished, banned and criminalized their National Socialist Party.
It's long past time that we do the same.

Domination is a relationship, not a condition; it depends on the participation of both parties. Hierarchical power is not just the gun in the policeman's hand; it is just as much the obedience of the ones who act as if it is always pointed at them. It is not just the government and the executives and the armed forces; it extends through society from top to bottom, an interlocking web of control and compliance. Sometimes all it takes to be complicit in the oppression of millions is to die of natural causes.

(1,850 posts)Those who spoke out in Nazi Germany were brutalized and ostracized. A scare tactic to get folks to fall in line and follow the leader.
Sound familiar? I forgot all the terms, but if someone speaks against tfg or the right wing agenda they are targeted, harassed, threatened, their addresses published.
We admire and respect those who stand up and speak out. They are brave, the opposite of cowardly.
The former gop was never for me, but when I look at the changes I observe the following:
The party has been taken over by fringe and reactionary factions, not to mention any foreign (Russian) influence and christofascists. Chaos is the goal and the outcome.
A portion have left and become unaffiliated
A (smaller) portion have become Democrats
Those who've stayed are self serving. Some have stayed but distanced themselves from the rabble, biding their time, hoping some sanity will return and they can step in and guide the GOPQ ship. That ship has sailed.
If they've stayed with the party they are dangerous, through their words and actions or their silence.

(2,036 posts)Many of them are complicit with the active intent to destroy democracy, but I think the majority of them are simply scared shitless that if they don't follow the Republican herd that they will lose their precious seat in Congress, so it's conform, conform, conform, keep your head down, don't stick your neck down, and vote whichever way FoxNews tells you to vote, and above all, check your humanity and your conscience at the door.

And some of those social media ether death threats become concrete
republicans are gripped by Fear. Sad way to end a political party
death by terrorism.
