As S.C. abortion vote nears, GOP women rebuke the men: 'It's always about control'

COLUMBIA, S.C. — When the fight over the right to abortion fell to the states, it landed awkwardly in Senate Office 601, where two Republicans who share the same suite, receptionist and voice-mail box have campaigned all year against each other’s idea of “pro-life.”

On one side of the roughly 800-square-foot space is Sen. Rex Rice, 66, who said every pregnancy represented “God’s child” and pushed for a near-total ban on abortion in South Carolina.

On the other is Sen. Sandy Senn, 59, who, loudly enough for him to hear, slammed that approach as “all about controlling women.”

To her, “pro-life” means protecting women, too. So, with the Senate expected to vote as early as Tuesday on a bill that would ban most abortions after about six weeks, Senn criticized her colleague for refusing to support what she called the “reasonable” middle ground: outlawing the procedure after 12 weeks.

She’s right, but she’s still a member of the party of death. I’m not going to hold my breath for her to renounce the fascist sewer her party has morphed into.
If every pregnancy represents “God’s child”, Rex, why do you not care about the poverty, lack of healthcare, the gauntlet of school shootings, drugs and such “God’s children” are forced to deal with? Could it be you’re so full of shit it should be coming out of your ears like Play-Do?

One with my friend, who is my age, one with my daughter. We ended up discussing women's rights, the ability to control our bodies, gender identity, drag and things along that line. The conversations were so similar, full of outrage. We are so angry. We all support Dems, undermine fascists. Both of my daughters are squaring off with menopause. There is a feeling of relief that soon neither will be judged about the size of their families, maybe will be less of a target for unwanted advances from horny men.

The conversation touched on the fact that culturally, girls are told to say no, and boys are encouraged to seduce any girl out there. Mother Nature gives boys and girls the same desire, and Mother Nature is going to win. But the girls pay so much more dearly than the boys do. My friend said that some guys just 'want a garage to park their cars' and don't want to pay rent, upkeep or maintenance. Yes, we all know good, decent men who contribute their fair share, respect their wives, love and support their families. But the eternal suppression continues, because it does favor men. Why would anyone willingly step off the top of the heap? And sorry, but men and women who spend their lives oppressing people get their jollies from the pain and sorrow their suppression assures.

I'm sick of people getting away with destroyng cvil rights using fake religious arguments. People who practice religion don't want to fight because maybe God is in the mix. People who don't practice religion won't fight because maybe God is in the mix.

The conversations included agreement that religion has oppressed and suppressed women for time out of mind. I can't help thinking that the human race is keeping one hand tied behind its back, as the suppression of half and more of the population denies freedom of choice, freedom of mind, freedom.
