Mr Peacetrain just got home from the store... eggs $1.18 a dozen

He had a completely full grocery bag with a fresh pineapple and celery and a couple of other things.. total $7.42... this is from ALDIs in Coralville Ia..

I don't know about anyone else.. but our grocery prices are starting to come back down..

Edit to add... I think the last case of bird flu we saw was in December here.. that is what made the eggs so expensive

Why do people insist on adding an "s" to Aldi? Some letters are silent and apparantly some are invisible.

It was the fall of the republic, eggs retailing for four or five dollars. And since they're such a staple of everyone's diet, we all suffered. Suffered, I tell you!

Now egg prices are back to a more customary price, and the national media have forgotten all about this vital issue, an indicator and benchmark of our nation's health and prosperity.

... but the stuff we normal people eat - country style ribs, most pork cuts, beef roasts, chicken, fish - have been coming down at the town HEB. Prepared foods are still high, but since the pandemic we've been baking and scratch cooking and we've kept our groceries pretty close to what they were pre-pandemic.

We've cut restaurants eating to maybe a 10th of what it was and we're eating better than ever.

At least where I live they did.

Supply and demand still works and prices reflect the drop in demand for eggs.

Very few people were buying the gouged price eggs.

Not the least of which was the devastating avian flu.

I’m glad I have my ladies, who produce breakfast for me every day.

Gas has just gone back up where I am, as it does every other week, it seems.

I just came from the store too, not Aldi, but not a pricey one either. Nothing has gone down where I am.

Lucky you.
