Dammit

I hate this. Going to have to go to the dentist and get some teeth out. And its gonna cost me because its two that have to go. Dunno what I am going to do when my chewing teeth are all gone.

I hate getting teeth pulled. Hate having a big hole in my gums, I am terrified of getting dry socket and my anxiety goes through the roof until the gum closes up.

I think teeth are one of the most stupid designed parts in a human body. One set that lasts until your 5 or so that barely gets used and adult teeth that have to last a lifetime, who's brilliant idea was that?

We should have teeth that grow back like sharks...evolution ,you hear me,fix this bullshit ,please, humanity will thank you.

3. What pisses me off is that the insurance co's treat our teeth as if they're not part of our bodies

You have to pay extra to get them treated when you're already paying a fortune for insurance.

Too long the infection can get into your brain and kill you. That is a serious threat to your life. Universal healthcare needs to cover all healthcare. And I am guilty of putting off getting teeth pulled to save money to pay for it.

5. Insurance companies classify almost anything to do with teeth as cosmetic.

Only gum disease, accidental damage to the mouth causing loss of teeth, and basic tooth maintenance are dental health; tooth decay and orthodontia are "moral hazards", because you can just brush your teeth to avoid cavities, right?

Psychologically, I just figure I am outliving my teeth, and that sounds like a good thing.

wish more than anything that my teeth were stronger. My insurance is now only $1500/yr. Such a racket and sad.

That helps alleviate the dry socket issue.

I’m sorry you are going through this. I agree about regenerative teeth. Or teeth that grow like horses.

Teeth problems are no fun.

When I was 12 years old, a dentist thought he could do a root-canal on me without any anesthesia. No wonder ever since I've been extremely reluctant to go to a dentist, until things got extremely bad.

Because of that lack of dental car (because of my unwillingness to go to a dentist) two years ago I had my remaining teeth all pulled, and got full dentures. What happened in the many years since the root-canal without anesthesia aren't particularly important.

And yes, the lack of dental insurance is a huge problem. I am lucky that I had the money to afford the dental work/dentures, which were insanely expensive.

My own mother (she was born in 1916 which is sort of important) had poor teeth, and by the time she was 40 they'd all been pulled. I actually have memories of going with her to the dentist as a very young child. She went entirely toothless for several years, until my parents could afford to get her dentures. I cannot begin to imagine what that must have been like. It might have helped a bit that in the 1950s there would have been many others like her, without teeth. She did finally get the dentures, and they lasted her the rest of her life, until March 1999.

It was...interesting.

I think that was how I learned to disassociate (go to the bahamas) when something really painful happens.

have always had a plaque problem. No dental insurance; the dentist who I know and played golf with charges me $80, my periodontist cuts me a break because I don't have insurance, $40, and his hygienists do a much better job.

Coincidentally I just had my teeth cleaned today.

something called internal resorption.

Final bill: $28,000

This, after undergoing years of braces, fillings, root canals, extractions, etc.

I asked my parents if they wanted to keep the teeth they pulled out of me, considering the small fortune they'd ponied up for them over the years.
