My prediction for the Deal:

1. McCarthy and Joe Biden strike a deal. Two years, past the 2024 Election before the next Default comes around.

2. There will be enough Republicans who will override the votes of Gaetz, Green, Comer, etc. and it will pass.

3. Gaetz, Green, and/or Comer will try to remove McCarthy but the majority of Republicans will vote to keep him as SOTH.

that part of the deal between the President and the asshole would be that enough Ds would vote to keep him in even if they do try to remove him. sorry no link, can't even recall where it came from, but i know i didn't make it up.

I don't like that part, if true. Time is wasting away while those pukes keep us from cleaning up our act with the environment and some serious social problems that need attention - them being one item on that list.

humans currently breathing, let alone Speakers of the House.

The woman he will never leave and those like her have had no other serious intentions from the very beginning - burn it down. They've never pretended otherwise.

They are the type cults and religious leadership have always looked for. They will happily hand their own babies up the side of the volcano because THEY have been promised power and greatness.

They may be willing to hand up their own babies, but never forget - they're going to start with yours and you.

I think whatever deal we finally see will be hated by almost everyone everywhere. And I think if it means letting that sniveling, oily little weasel in the Speakership finish out his term where he is so be it if we have saved those fucking lunatics from burning it all down.

1. McCarthy and Biden strike a deal, raise debt limit past election, include some fairly minor cuts/restrictions

2. McCarthy announces in a CNN Town Hall that he got everything he asked for

3. His cronies cheer because they're "owning the libs" and give McCarthy a standing O in the House

4. Media reports that Biden got hosed in the deal

No matter what Biden's going to get blamed by the political pundits and oblivious public.

I just hope Biden can get a 2 year extension and a budget resolution so the Repugs can't pull this crap again in 6 months

At this point I'm 50/50 on whether #1 can be achieved. I don't trust McCarthy or his sedition caucus.

In the initial 15 rounds, Dems were appropriately lock solid behind Jefferies.

With this deal, some pissed off, entitled R is going to call the question on McCarthy and he'll be 5-7 votes short of the job without some Dem support.

I believe it will be predetermined as part of the deal that some dems will support McCarthy for speaker. This allows him to keep his job AND effectively neuters the whack jobs on the right. I can almost hear Biden leaning across the table and saying "com'on Kevin - we both know this is a good deal and we'll give you cover from the left so save ya from the crazies...let's the two of us throw them off your back". Strategically, it's a good idea to cut the cord between McCarthy and Gaetz/Green/Bobbert/etc. A debt deal and exiling the shack jobs - that's a good day's work for the WH.

The reason is because, as bad a McCarthy is, he's better than the alternatives who would be beholden to the far right. There's no world in which Jefferies becomes speaker during this congress so the next best thing is to unshackle McCarthy and see how the next rounds go while we work like hell to get Jefferies the job come january 2025.

Gaetz and crowd are all walking around with the idea that any one of them can put McCarthy over a barrel. Take that away and they're just whiney kids crying out in the street.

It's totally what they would do.

Assume "they" = republicans. So I agree they're a danger and they're assholes.

He...McCarthy = Charlie Brown ?

Sorry - not trying to be dense, but a lot of pronouns floating around there. You thinking McCarthy gets less than 5 republican votes on a deal ?

Kevin getting Charlie Browned = All set up thinking he's going to keep his seat after taking this deal because someone said that Dems would vote to keep him there... only they don't vote to keep him as Speaker after the debt ceiling crap is history.

That's what I meant.

I can see the potential but it creates a "who next" issue. Who comes out of the next 15 rounds and will then be better for the WH/Jefferies than having Kevin in your pocket.

IF this deal works, he'll never regain support from the far right wing. So...since we can't have Jefferies, we might as well have McCarthy who would owe his speakership to half a dozen dems (versus the whack-a-doodles). Instead of MTG pulling puppet Kevin's strings, it's Jefferies...I'll take that trade any day and twice on Sundays

Gotta say...if that comes to pass it's some pretty damn good politicking on Joe's part.

Jeffries.

ANY deal Kevin makes is way short of the maga goal of destroying every bit of the Biden and Harris success. He loses “N” votes.

So, suppose Joe reneges in delivering Kevin votes for speaker?
Does this earn him any more scorn than he gets daily?
Who the hell would notice?

magats will vote for Jeffries out of spite to Kevin, who failed to deliver.
There is a price for failure.

Blofeld then again called Kronsteen and Klebb before him, where the two respectively blamed the other one for the failure of the operation. Eventually, Blofeld had Kronsteen killed for failing to consider Bond's capabilities. Morzeny, one of Blofeld's henchmen, stabbed Kronsteen with a blade tipped in poison.

Thx for the reply.

Looking to wager $1 somewhere on Hakeem "Alpha" Jeffries as speaker. I know how spiteful people let spite run and ruin their lives.

Promise McCarthy enough Democratic votes to keep the Speakership if the chaos caucus tries to oust him for, you know, doing something sensible instead of throwing the country into a deep financial crisis like they want.
