Or would democrats be voting as well?

I’d imagine democrats would stick with McCarthy which would make it impossible to remove him.

I'm speculating that Biden assured McCarthy that his position as Speaker would be able to withstand a far-right revolt. We shall see.

and every time a Freedom/MAGA monster calls for a vote to oust Kev, the Dems will be there to save him...can't think of a more tailor-made revenge than for the Dems to shove dear Speaker down Gaetz/Boebert/Perry/Roy/Norman/Bishop's collective throats over and over again..

Democrats don't even have to vote...they can just leave the room and lower the threshold McCarthy had to get to keep being Speaker.

"We really still don't like him much, but he's far better than what the alternative would be". As long as Kevin doesn't have his precious gavel yanked away, he'll still owe Joe one. Which would infuriate the F.C. all the more. So be it.

If a bunch of Democratic congress people voted for McCarthy it would make things tougher on him with the facist crowd. But Democrats saying, "who cares, you figure it out" probably can't be held against him.

Bishop will never get the 50% +1 to win, let them run around in disarray while they can't pick a leader for a while.
Then get BIG concessions from McCarthy to vote for him.

to elect the speaker of "their" House. They would be at each other's throats for months. The aftermath from the resulting Civil War in their ranks might even free some less crazy G.O.P. members to occasionally work on some legitimately bipartisan legislation

Motion to vacate only needs a simple majority in the House. If every Dem voted against McCarthy, how many GOP votes would Bishop need to get in order to topple him? Not many right?

If McCarthy is booted, the nation gets to watch ANOTHER painful Republican leadership contest. There's no reason to believe that another contest would be any more pleasant than the first.

Shades of the UK Tories here, with their multiple leadership contests within a couple months of each other. That party infighting made them look foolish and incompetent, and it's done them no favors with the public, who are predicted to hand them a beating at the next election.

a deal was cut to save Kev's job if he compromised as much as he did with Pres Biden.. Dems would have to follow through.

I've read it was a good deal for Dems.. I just want it to be Over in Spite of the Putin Caucus and any Purity complainers.

It's Millions of People's Lives they're Messing with and Blowing up our Economy and the World's from what I've read.

Which is exactly what "Anything But Free Caucus" wants as we know.

The Inquisition-like demand for conservative purity from the wing-nut Right is not known for restraint.

Any deviation from whatever the Right Wing Hate Talkers decide is "Doctrine For The Day" is considered heresy.
