Police give update after video of boy throwing cat off quarry ledge shared online

Video appears to show teen hurling animal hundreds of feet into water below

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/boy-throws-cat-quarry-lancashire-b2373724.html

Police have issued a warning over threats and anti-social behaviour after a video appeared online appearing to show a teenager throwing a cat of a cliff. The clip, shared on social media, appears to show the boy, accompanied by a friend, hurling the animal into water hundreds of ft below at the site of a former quarry in Carnforth, Lancashire.

The feline is seen spinning in the air after it is launched from the ledge and a splash can be seen in the water around five seconds later when the cat hits the water. The Independent has chosen not to publish the video due to its distressing nature.

People found guilty of offences against animals can face an unlimited fine, jail or both. The maximum sentence is five years imprisonment. Lancashire Police said on Tuesday night, after the footage surfaced online, that it was working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident after the footage surfaced.

In an updated statement overnight the force said it had viewed the footage and determined that the incident happened “some time ago”. The force added that the cat was “already dead” at the time of the incident. “While distasteful and obviously upsetting to view we are satisfied no criminal offence has been committed,” it said.

I have a hunch they murdered the cat beforehand which is why it was 'already dead'

I have a soft spot for our little fur babies; I think it's because they choose us rather than need us. I will not say what I want to do to this creature, I would never consider it a human, but suffice it to say most of you would…disagree.

I'd like to knock this punk's teeth out for even thinking about killing this cat!!

Why do some young guys:
1. Seem to hate cats?
2. Have no sensitivity or compassion?

Is it a frickin' macho thing?
Are they thinking killing an animal will make up for their short penis or something?

And who took this pic & why?
Why did no one stop this cruel sadism?

What girl would want to marry such an insensitive, sadistic p.o.s.???

My son is visiting from Washington State and so we packed a bunch of things to eat and went to a local area South of the Hilo port. There are beautiful spots to snorkel or hang out at.
A Toyota truck pulled in the parking lot with five local teens--guys, and they got out (3 from the open truck back) and started walking around. A feral mother hen had a bunch of chicks with her she was teaching how to scratch with their feet and then peck at the ground at what they uncovered. We were watching them with amazement because the mother was so patient and showed them how it is down and they would try. One was getting really good at it. It was fun watching them. My son took some videos of the mother training her chicks.
The teen boys started chasing the chicks and the mother freaked out. They were trying to stomp them with their feet and catch them with their hands. Obviously they meant serious harm and were laughing and excited. My son yelled out at them to leave the chickens alone. He stood up--6'5" and so the boys left the chicks and backed up towards their truck. They conversed a little and started to come back so I pulled out my phone and held it up to show I was recording them. They took off, but laughed at us as they drove by.
We hung around for a while to protect the chickens in case they came back because their egos took a hit. I wondered, though. They must do stuff like that often.

Start with fires, torture animals, what's next? No empathy, remorse, morality, guilt, they're psychopaths waiting to happen.

that cat is deceased. (which considerably decreases both the 'cruelty' and 'shock' value). Still somewhat callous behavior - but, on other hand, how many dead animals are simply dumped into a trash bin? Also callous (to a degree), but simply commonplace fact of life.
