Also Idaho, Arizona, and Michigan. Mostly the south though. My brother and sisters of the south are not rednecks at all, though some are farmers, hunters and just good people. Even the definition of redneck has changed. The Rednecks from the 1921 Battle of Blair Mountain are long gone. That morphed into the jock kids in my first year of high school in NC who fought me just cause I was a skate punk from VB. The ones that would try to run you over as you skated in downtown. Those were the modern rednecks, flying the confederate flag off their trucks and boats. The ones who vote for trump. That's what the modern redneck is now and not to be confused with a southern man or woman. Some of us took that seriously, the challenge to be a southern man or woman. That change was going to come at last. That we would change. Not a redneck.
Eko.

A UNION MINER! A man you could trust with your life, underground. And no one to piss off, above it!

Jeff Foxworthy's definition is: Someone with a delightful absence of sophistication!

"If you have to move a transmission so your wife can take a bath, you might be a redneck!"

Coal miners (wiki)

The term "redneck" in the early 20th century was occasionally used in reference to American coal miner union members who wore red bandanas for solidarity. The sense of "a union man" dates at least to the 1910s and was especially popular during the 1920s and 1930s in the coal-producing regions of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.[18] It was also used by union strikers to describe poor white strikebreakers.[19]
Late 20th and early 21st centuries

Writers Edward Abbey and Dave Foreman also use "redneck" as a political call to mobilize poor rural white Southerners. "In Defense of the Redneck" was a popular essay by Ed Abbey. One popular early Earth First! bumper sticker was "Rednecks for Wilderness". Murray Bookchin, an urban leftist and social ecologist, objected strongly to Earth First!'s use of the term as "at the very least, insensitive".[20] However, many Southerners have proudly embraced the term as a self-identifier.[21][22] Similarly to Earth First!'s use, the self-described "anti-racist, pro-gun, pro-labor" group Redneck Revolt have used the term to signal its roots in the rural white working-class and celebration of what member Max Neely described as "redneck culture".[23]

Obviously, your post is in good fun and taken that way. I like redneck jokes as good as anyone. My fav is still from Foxworthy. If your Grandma keeps a spit cup on the ironing board.... Runner up ... if one of your relatives ever opened a beer at a funeral.

I do understand you are singling out the small minority of voters that have turned into rabid Trump cultists. However, As I grow older I find it is generally assumed that everyone who comes from where I grew up is a redneck hillbilly MAGA dumbshit - and I'm the exception. This could not be more wrong, and I don't think advancing that mindset helps anyone.

Although, as I was typing this, I realized I really don't know what "redneck" means. Does it mean a white southerner of low education? Then I don't like this thread. Does it mean a racist white person who supports Trump? Well...OK.
