Lindsey Graham lets slip his true agenda...

He responded to the President's news conference where the President stated that if they had a problem to come after him, not Susan Rice, the UN Ambassador.

That must have made Graham mad? He responded almost immediately that "Yes, he thought the President was responsible for Benghazi". No Republican had dared to go there before but Graham gave away their strategy. Benghazi = Impeachment. That is their goal and Graham as much as said so.

Thanks, Lindsey. We knew where you were coming from already but we appreciate the clarification.

Imho the whole thing was used as a setup to ensure a Rmoney presidency (tho not necessarily the murders... the explosion of outrage across the Mideast over the stoopid moovie would have sufficed as the basis for a potentially successful Swiftboating.)

The fallback position was impeachment, starting with calling for a "Watergate style" investigation. I don't think they'll have much luck. But then, they tried everything in the book on Clinton before Monica snapped her thong at him.

Wed Nov 14, 2012, 05:18 PM

I remember that the whole buzz swirling around the movie was pretty suspicious as well--

The actors shot a completely different movie, and had no idea they were shooting an anti-Islam movie. The offending script was dubbed in over their lines.

The movie was, IIRC, never actually released anywhere. It was posted on YouTube and then "leaked" to various sources who might be interested in it.

The filmmaker had all kinds of shady business in his past, including some sort of connection to Israeli right wing businessmen, I believe. And he was arrested for violating parole, and has disappeared from the public eye.

There was talk at the time of this being some sort of set-up, designed to inspire riots and protests, possibly to make Obama look bad.

He attended a party next door to my brother inlaws house in a rural area of South Carolina. It was a small gathering. They were in their back yard. The house is rather small with a chain link fence seperating it. I could hear the loud voices from lots of drinking. I listened over the fence when Graham got up to make his speech. This was back when he ran the last time. I heard outright references to not allowing people on welfare and food stamps to take over government and other more blatant racist terms. He is not what you think. He is less moderate than the media presents him to be.

It'll be a long time before the GOP is in a position to do that again. They have a LOT or reorganizing to do if they're ever going to be a nationally viable party again, and step ONE is very obviously to excise the Limbaugh wing of the party, or at least marginalize them. The only people who consider this Benghazi thing a "scandal" are loony, hate radio fans, and they're an irrelvant minority now that repulses just about everyone.

If the Republicans were to toss them red meat in the form of impeachment hearings, they would be ensuring their own status as nothing more than a regional, obstructionist party for several cycles to come-- and it would without a doubt cost them the House.

Lindsey Graham

Graham is a tricky target because he is up for re-election in bright red South Carolina in 2014. But the senator has, in recent years, collaborated with Democrats on major issues like immigration and climate change, and in the wake of Obama’s re-election, is urging his party to soften its opposition on immigration reform in order to win back Hispanics. He has also been vocal about his support for raising tax revenues to reduce the debt.

If Graham gets hounded by a credible primary challenger early next cycle, his desire for cooperation could prove short-lived. But if he fends off an intra-party battle for his seat, the South Carolinian could reignite his bipartisan streak and become a central figure in advancing and molding Obama’s key second term initiatives.

That means 40 of 'em are even more batshit crazy than Lindsey.

You have a Congress that's less popular than Ted Bundy because they obstruct everything, tons of things that need to be done, a Senate firmly in the hands of Democrats and a "scandal" that amounts to four Americans getting killed in the most dangerous place in the world. The only absolute way to have kept the ambassador alive would have been to withdraw our people, and you know what would have happened then: "President Obama is turning his back on a new democracy!"

It will be nice to see the House Republican Caucus become four guys from Utah, two from Idaho, one from Wyoming and an Alaskan, so go for it GOP, just try holding impeachment hearings. They tell me there are more cars for Darrell Issa to steal now than when he left...

Simultaneously, have some of the democrats that are on house intelligence subcommittee go on the Sunday shows and talk about how we should have paid more attention to these 'many' attacks because we might have been able to predict the attack with more accuracy since there were indicators that an attack was emminent.

These congresspersons need to point out some small detail from Dubyas administration that was misrepresented (about embassy security) and had it been reported properly we would have been better able to short-circuit the Benghazi attack.

Of course the house members can't be specific because of national security...

You know... Like that.

Bring attention to the many attacks on embassies during the Bush administration; say it lots of times. The many attacks, the many attacks. There was this common element about the many attacks.

Now, proceed with your impeachment over this one attack in Benghazi.
