Republicans keep repeating (vaguely) what a mess the country is in

Maybe I'm wrong for just assuming they're talking about the United States. Or that they're talking about the United States of Earth One.

Seven reasons the US economy is among the strongest in the G7

Cooling inflation, continued economic growth, and a strong labor market exemplify the sustained resilience of the U.S. economy, particularly compared with other advanced economies.
_________

While some pundits were predicting a recession at the end of 2022, the U.S. economy demonstrated its strength through continued economic and job growth. In the first half of 2023, the economy remained resilient in the face of additional economic risks and uncertainties, including further interest rate hikes, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) seemingly politically driven debt default crisis, and a series of bank failures. This column updates prior Center for American Progress analysis to show that the U.S. economy remains better positioned than many of its counterparts in the Group of Seven (G7) across the following seven indicators: inflation, energy prices, gross domestic product (GDP), the unemployment rate, the long-term unemployment rate, the 2023 International Monetary Fund (IMF) GDP forecast, and the 2023 IMF unemployment rate forecast.

3. The difference between the Reagan recovery and the recoveries under Dem presidents
Tue Sep 12, 2023, 11:35 AM
Sep 2023

Is that the majority of the jobs created in Reagan's years were government jobs. In contrast Clinton, Obama, and Biden supervised the economy while it was creating predominantly private sector jobs.

For some reason they don't talk about that at the CPAC conventions

The Republicans are responsible for the largest growth in big gubmint hiring. That's how they stimulate what little job growth they've ever achieved.

5. But gas prices are up!

As if it's President Biden's personal responsibility to keep gas prices low or something. I don't always do it, but on news feed posts griping about the cost at the pump, I like to post a link to the latest quarterly earnings report from one of the big oil companies and ask the griper if they're sure they're mad at the right person for a $50 fill up? Exxon made a $10 billion profit last quarter for some vague, unexplained reason, but it must be President Biden's fault!

The Saudis cut oil production, gave Donnie a golf league, and Jared $2b. They have to pay for whatever Donnie gave them while he was hoarding national security secrets in that bathroom with a chandelier.

6. it's all about their grievances

The politics of permanent grievance REQUIRES that they see the future as broken. Most of them are permanently spoiled in that regard-- they will never see the country and the future except through the lens of their grievances.

7. The media is culpable
Tue Sep 12, 2023, 02:40 PM

It's non stop.

I still regularly hear newscasters talk about "rising inflation" when inflation has been falling steadily for 14 months. And not just national news either, I hear it on the local news in all kids of stories, like back to school stories this Fall would start off with, "how parents are coping with runaway inflation and school supplies" This was just a month ago I saw that story. Or any story about anything to do with retail they'll lead it with, "despite the higher prices consumers are still dining out" or "utlities costs are soaring, how viewers can stay cool." Just a constant drum beat about higher prices, as if prices on everything are soaring with no end in sight.

Jobs numbers are ignored, or if they are reported, no contexrt is given. These are the best jobs numbers any President has ever had, people don't know that. Wage growth right now is higher than inflation and has been for several months, people have no idea. Growth has been solid. We avoided a recession while taming inflation, that's an incredible accomplishment. And we've handled inflation and its effects better than virtually any other modern country, people don't know that.

And what's more, the media just went alon when Trump and the GOP said "Greatest economy in history!" Trump's numbers even before Covid were average to below average. Jobs growth was poor and about 165,000 jobs a month before Covid. Growth was just over 2% under Trump before Covid. He inherited a strong economy from Obama and didn't kill it until he mismanaged Covid. His numbers were unremarkable save for the stock market doing well. But people just accept we had this great economy before when the fact is that Biden is outperforming Trump in almost evvery key economic indicator and that's despite inheriting a shrinking economy with 6% + unemployment. The economy is better now than under Trump, full stop.

9. Biden needs to be more Trump-like
Wed Sep 13, 2023, 12:26 PM

In 1 respect Biden has to be more like Trump, telling people things are great. Every time jobs numbers came out or the stock market went up Trump would tell people “this is the best it’s ever been”. Biden needs to be telling people the positive things happening so people don’t just focus on gas prices and inflation. Cause the republicans can just throw out general statements and let the people’s minds fill it in with their own experiences.

For instance within 15 minutes drive from my house there has been at least 4 factory builds or expansions in the past year. If the economy was so bad there wouldn’t be that many places investing in expansion.

But trust me, that's not going to make Trump win here. And by the way, between now and the election, every Democrat that stands in front of a microphone needa to point out that Trump lost by a landslide in his home state and city. We need some kind of a slogan about how the people who know him best rejected him.

But that could change. Even if it doesn't change, Fox Noise will convince them that it has changed, so whether or not it really did, believe me, it will change for the worse in the minds of Foxsuckers. As we now all know, Democrats will be busy pulling the heads off of babies at Planned Parenthood clinics, since Trump found that out over the weekend and announced it on Meet The Princess. They will find some gas station somewhere that charges $6 a gallon, and tell everyone that it's average for the country. Then they'll find a swanky restaurant that charges $5 for a glass of milk, and then say that milk has gone up to $50 a gallon (if it takes 10 glasses of milk to make a gallon--I'm speculating there).

So, be prepared. It's not the truth that counts. It's what Foxsuckers and Trumpanzees say that they believe that counts. Plenty of them know the lies when they hear them, but they prefer to claim they can see the emperor's new clothes after all.
