PunchbowlFirst, Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) stepped down from House Democratic leadership over his views on President Joe Bidens reelection bid. Now, Phillips may face a primary challenger thanks to his 2024 ambitions.
Ron Harris, a Democratic Party official, told us hes been making calls and putting a team together for a possible House run. Harris is a Democratic National Committee Executive Committee member and DNCs Midwestern Caucus chair.
Harris is eyeing an open seat if Phillips runs for president. But Harris also didnt rule out running against Phillips if the three-term lawmaker seeks reelection in the House.
My main focus is making sure that this district stays in Democratic hands, Harris told us in an interview. Dean is making a lot of noise about potentially running for president and thats kind of where were at today. Thats the foundation of which Im exploring this run.

(15,953 posts)1. I'd never heard of Dean Phillips until the last House Speaker votes
He actually spoke and I was impressed by him. But then he decided to challenge President Biden I started to think differently about him.
I wish Ron Harris well. He seems to have contacts that should help him.

He has said he thinks Biden shouldn't run for re-election.

That being said, he offers us the best chance of holding the White House. There isn't a magical candidate who can banish the bad man forever.
