(131,176 posts)1. Paxlovid is currently being used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19;
the treatment costs $120-$530 per person. According to the U.S. Department of health.
If you have a Medicare card, and are eligible, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme PBS subsidises the cost of oral antiviral COVID-19 medication. From 1 January 2023 the maximum that a pharmacy can charge per oral medication is: $30 for general patients. $7.30 for concession cardholders.

(2,555 posts)5. I just got finished with it
And I had almost zero side effects. The pharmacy may have coupons to help with the price. Good luck to your son 🙏

Biden set up Test to Treat sites where people can get free covid tests and free Paxlovid all around the country: https://aspr.hhs.gov/TestToTreat/Pages/fact-sheet-t2t-fed.aspx
Test to Treat location near you (just put on your son's zip code): https://covid-19-test-to-treat-locator-dhhs.hub.arcgis.com/
And he doesn't need to go to the doctor for a prescription, apparently almost any CVS pharmacist can prescribe it to him. https://www.modbee.com/news/coronavirus/article269823557.html
But the key is to get on it quickly, within 5 days of symptoms.
Paxlovid really works well, and quickly, for most people.
