(21,382 posts)This isn't that good of an example; everyone mispeaks. Trump has laid out a bunch of doozies. This seems pretty gentle.

(8,167 posts)...in the longer clip I heard. Kilmeade corrected him again, and then Trump -- maybe finally realizing the problem -- just went with, "but Obama calls the shots, Biden is just following orders" or something along those lines. It left me wondering if he got confused and thought Obama was still president and Biden was his VP.
Having said that, I have no clue why you would chime in to defend Trump to begin with...

(59,678 posts)that has been out there for months. This may be speaking to the base and trying to deny credit to Biden for anything and making it easier for the rw lie that Biden is incompetent. His actions and speech show the exact opposite to anyone listening with an open mind.
In addition to this, Trump is attacking Netanyahu and other Israelis at a time when that is unseemly. I wonder if his real anger is that the war, atrocities et al and the speaker nonsense is cutting into HIS airtime. He is really not the center of attention now and he hates that.

Why does this SOM (sad old man) still get airtime in America?
The rest of the world forgot about him long ago.

(4,741 posts)But habit for him to whine about Obama as President. He's in the rut and can't get out of it.
We all do this to some degree, even without dementia. My mother in her late 40s frequently called my sprog by her youngest son's name, because they acted so alike sometimes. Still does confuse the names, to be honest, but it started when my lad was a toddler.
When I remarried in my 30s, I had to catch myself when I'd start to call my current husband by the ex's name. I was so used to talking about the first one with certain people that the other name came to me more quickly. I got over it.
I used to joke that "Honey" and "Sweetie" were covers for forgetting a spouse's name. Because I used those very endearments, for that reason...when I was in my teens.
So if it can happen to whippersnappers not at all inclined to dementia, then it can happen to anyone.

(8,167 posts)Why the hell would he be confusing Obama for Hillary and Biden? You think he complained more about Obama over the years than those two? I don't.

(4,832 posts)promoting the birth certificate, not a citizen, craziness. Hes a racist and Obama being president got under his skin. The White House Correspondents dinner sealed his obsessive hatred.
TwilightZone
(26,463 posts)As moonscape noted, the birther nonsense was his singular obsession for years.
Also noted, he's never gotten over the Correspondents' Dinner. It's one of the primary reasons he ran for president.
With little doubt, he has obsessed over Obama much more than he has Biden.
Between Hillary and Barack, it's probably a toss-up.
moonscape

(32,524 posts)His rallies have been the same, old airing of all of his grievances from Day One. The only difference is that he has so many grievances now, he can't keep them straight. Add in the stress of realizing that his game is nearing an end, and he's about to lose in a MASSIVE way due to his own stupidity and hubris, and it's not surprising that he's confusing things.

(744 posts)I don't think Trump is confusing Obama and Biden. I think he's going to run a campaign on the idea that it's Obama calling ALL the shots and that Biden is a dementia-riddled president in name only. He hinted at this during his speech a few days ago where he attacked Israel by consistently mentioning Barack Hussein Obama.
That's going to be his theme. Obama is calling the shots and Biden is just a figurehead who doesn't know what he's doing.
allegorical oracle
(2,526 posts)saying Obama is still "in charge" demeans Biden's authority. Appears to be a form of projection -- tfg continuously demonstrates and boasts about how he's in charge of his "yuge" base.

(744 posts)Plus, he hates Obama. So, any chance he gets to attack and demean him is a win. The dude is just toxic. I hate him.
