5. The unadulterated joy at knowing that Mitt Romney would NEVER
have the title President, Commander in Chief, Big Cheese, HMFIC or sit in the Oval office as our highest elected office holder. Thanks, Mr. President for that. I was worried for a while, but you came through for us....after we came through for you. THANKS!

I think it is a beautiful name, so musical when you say it!
My Dante is bi-lingual in Italian and English. I try to keep up with his Italian but it's a losing battle... |

10. I got a Supreme Court nomination that is thoughtful and sane, maybe as many as 4 of them.
Sure, the President's really expensive, what with wars, Wall Street, and the like, but look at the alternative. I think this gift is really going to pay off in the long run.

18. I mailed him my Election Day Wish List
Dear President Obama (it said),
I have been a good and loyal Democrat and have followed your Cold War Era Mind-Control Orders for 4 whole years!! I have also brought friends and family over to your Dark Side (do you see what I did there?) via your CWEMC mini-meetup at Democratic Underground (R). You're welcome!! In exchange for my vote I would love to have the following if you and your little elves (what? what happened to Kucinich?!) could please please make it happen: 666 kilos of weed membership in the hot hunk of the month club (with 'certain' privileges included of course) cause this slut needs some Annual pass to the abortion clinic - the one on 5th and main, so much cleaner ; )!! I just go in for a touch-up every 28 days. Hello! Ho boots! You know where I am, you've watched me when I was sleeping and you knew when I was awake, you've mailed my house 32 times this year, I've been good for goodness sake!! Thanks man, for the Dem lady slut ho hook-up, I've got your back!! Save |

24. while far from perfect I would have to say ACA
I have to pay $775/month in premiums and the insurance only covers 80% of my bills but my husband and my son who both have pre-existing conditions are covered. My daughter who is turning 18 gets to stay on our insurance and she has access to birth control.

32. My employer recently termanated our health insuance. Our union found us a health plan
for $809 a month. Because of the HCTC (health care tax credit) included in the Stimulous I get a 72.5% tax credit so I can purchase my insurance for only
$222 a month until I am 65 and eligable for Medicare. |

47. In order to get the HCTC you have to be getting a pension
from the PBGC (Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp) or be qualified for TRA or TAA. TRA and TAA are for people that have lost their jobs and health-care as a result of foreign trade. You also must not be eligible for Medicare. At 62 the company offered me my pension and health-care
insurance until I become (65) Medicare age. The company terminated our health-care in September and since part of my pension comes from the PBGC I get the HCTC until I reach 65 in April next year it will save me over $4000. I am very lucky a lot of my fellow employees don't qualify for the HCTC and have to pay the full premium, that's $1618 a month if they are married. Good luck. |

42. So many gifts
I got four more years of of Obamas in the White House, which was what I wanted more than anything.
I got NO years of Mitt Romney as president. I got more schadenfreude than I know what do with. Almost. There's really no such thing as enough of that. I got the gradual closing of the donut hole in Medicare Part D. That was a big personal concern, as husband needs some real costly meds and we're in our 60's. I got hope for the future because the emerging Democratic majority manifested itself. I got a smile that hasn't really gone away since election day. And did I mention schadenfreude? Because that's turned out to be a big one, if not really subtantive. |
