Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI would like to see Palestinian/Israeli peace. Is it possible?
What chance of peace is there when Hamas promises to continue terrorist attacks, no matter what?
Doesn't it take two for peace?
A cease fire allows Hamas to renew/rebuild.
As long as Gaza is controlled by Hamas, there is no practical distinction between Palestinians/Hamas.
Hamas has the real power. Food, fuel. supplies.
I would like to see peace for all.
Is it a hope or a delusion?

(17,757 posts)The brutality of the original attack and the response will insure that there will be war far into the future.

(9,225 posts)...that there is no distinction between hamas and Palestinians.
That, quite frankly, is rascist bullshit.
"The argument that the entire population of Gaza can be held responsible for Hamass actions is quickly discredited when one looks at the facts. Arab Barometer, a research network where we serve as co-principal investigators, conducted a survey in Gaza and the West Bank days before the Israel-Hamas war broke out. The findings, published here for the first time, reveal that rather than supporting Hamas, the vast majority of Gazans have been frustrated with the armed groups ineffective governance as they endure extreme economic hardship. Most Gazans do not align themselves with Hamass ideology, either. Unlike Hamas, whose goal is to destroy the Israeli state, the majority of survey respondents favored a two-state solution with an independent Palestine and Israel existing side by side.

(37,191 posts)Hamas is forcing the ordinary Palestinians to be part of them.
Can you separate them outside of theory?
Think. Again.
(9,225 posts)...individuals, of any background, are simply not indistinguishable from others with that same background.
Some may have similar thoughts, ideas, motivations, and intentions, other will not. Stereotyping is rascist bullshit.
As for grouping all Palestinians based on hamas being the group in control, I'll give you an anaolgy;
I am an American, when trump & company were in control of America, I was NOT maga.

Hamas has the real power.
Think. Again.
(9,225 posts)...you have to attack them separately.
And if Israel doesn't have the intelligence info to identify individuals to target, then our monetary aid to Israel has been severely wasted.

(9,225 posts)...to spell out the procedures and methods of gathering and implementing military intelligence, I'm afraid I can't do that.
But I strongly suspect there are many high-ranking intelligence and military officials who can, since, after all, they do it all the time.

(19,056 posts)That we require to have a by-name roster of the rank and file of their enemies?
Or is this just a requirement for Israel?
Think. Again.
(9,225 posts)...every country in the world doesn't know pretty much everything about the key military people of their serious enemy countries?
sarisataka
(19,056 posts)That every country knows the position of their enemy's key personnel at this exact moment? That doesn't even happen in the movies, let alone real life.

(9,225 posts)...and after decades of living under the threat of hamas, if Israel doesn't have location info on important hamas figures, then something is very wrong somewhere.

(482 posts)in the conflicts of this region over tha past 100 years. IOW, what would in your opinion be that Israel can do to insure a lasting peace between both parties. I know what you want the Palestinin side to do, but "agreements" take both parties to commit to something.
