If you get a message saying your package was not deliverable by what seems to be the USPS, please look closer. This site usiup.top is a scam to get your credit card information. They ask for a .30 redelivery fee and will put the charge on your credit card. Was a bit groggy when I first read this this am but called a stop when they first asked for a redelivery fee and then my Credit card info.

(8,868 posts)Have received that message a few times over last few months. I never click but have been curious. Thom Hartmann brought it up yesterday, so thank you for alerting us all. Was gonna go to the PO and show them the text, but ya saved me a trip to the local Petri Dish. Merry Holidays and happy birthday Santa. Im only giving incense and mirth this year. People need to call some wise men for gold. Or, its stuck in a Post Office shelf to be picked up by the gift receiver.

(7,722 posts)Once I place the address labels on the package, I really pack on M3 brand of shipping tape across both the address labels. This protects from smears and any type of damage so that both addresses are readable.
I recently went inside my local post office to ship a package on December 9th (non priority) and this package came back to me on December 16th , two hours after the post office closed.
I had to go back to the Post office yesterday morning with both my package and receipt. I had to stand in an extra long line and I was hot under the collar about having to reship this package. The clerk was helpful and gracious. Since I brought my receipt in, I didn't have to repay for shipping. The verdict was that the shipping label that the USPS places on after weighing fell off. I walked out of the post office in a much better mood than when I walked in.
Moral of this story: Place shipping tape over both to and from addresses to protect the readability. The package should always come back to the shipper if there's an issue. Save the shipping receipt, place it near your driver's license or money card...
super imperative to save the receipt.
I once purchased shipping tape from the USPS and the tape dispenser is terrible to operate, so I only purchase M3 shipping tape now.
Happy package shipping, Shippers!

(4,741 posts)Expecting to receive--not send--a package, and millions are receiving packages from online purchases...where customers can't control how things get sent to them.
This is what the scammers are counting on--people who have ordered things online, and may be worried about its arrival.

(235 posts)They send a bank notice text (from the same text number) that says you have a $1200 charge going on your account then provide a handy link for you to log in,LOL. They almost got me with that one and I am pretty tech savvy.

(845 posts)I get text and emails saying my account has been locked. Like Amazon. I never click on a link. I just go to the main Amazon website and check to make sure. Ive gotten the package USPS unable to deliver. Really gets worse around Christmas. Jackasses need Christmas money. Easy money. Gift cards are being drained by thieves. They steal them at the store. Steam them to open. Wipe out the balance and glue the card back in its package and take it back to the store put it back in the rack for some unsuspecting customer to get scammed.

(2,250 posts)Meant to mention it to one of the postal workers when I went to send a package to a friend. While in line, I heard an older gent ask about the email he got that a package to him was 'undeliverable' and how he needed to fix the situation.
One of our wonderful local postal workers was oh so patient with the gent and explained that it was an email scam to get credit card numbers and a lot of people in town got the same email. He asked the old guy if he had responded or sent his card number back. Then he advised the man to contact our local sheriff's dept to report the scam, as that department does collect information and send out scam alerts to county residents.

(51,649 posts)various scams via the home phone number and seniors are the most targeted since they are the most vulnerable. My mother was one of them. My local Ralph's Supermarket even broadcast a warning about scams throughout the supermarket many times.
