Trump got destroyed in NH. I don't understand the headlines.

His entire campaign is predicated on his false claims that the election was stolen from him.

When 43% of the Republican base votes for a different candidate, it shows that Trumps disinformation message is not penetrating.

If people believed the election was stolen from him by a deep state, they’d be out in droves… in my view.

He may well lose the primary if this keeps up.

Am I alone in my analysis?

As Lawrence O'Donnell said on MSNBC tonight, if Republicans consider him to be the "incumbent," he's losing support.

My main fear is the idiot third party spoilers, like RFK Jr., or Cornel West, who will take away just enough votes from Biden to hand the swing states to Trump.

Was specifically about Trump lost 43% of the base vote which is what I was replying to. That is false because most of that 43 % weren't even Republicans.

Said Trump lost 43% of the base vote and may well lose the primary...which isn't true because as I said MANY of the primary voters weren't even Republicans. That will not be the case in most states as only Party faithful can vote in the primary.

It's not a normal cycle. If Biden had a challenger getting 43% of the vote, the headlines would be ablout how Dems need to replace him at the top of the ticket, indpendents voting against him or not.

But I think these early rounds expose the weakness of the Trump campaign. Independents and moderates do not like the craziness and chaos which is what Trump represents. He needs a coalition of these voters for any chance of winning in November bc the MAGA base is static in raw numbers.

Despite all the whining and grievance mongering, Trump's appeal is smaller than it was. He's a known quantity, a disaster of his own making.

Which is good bc I want the man trounced in November along with his ugly enablers and supporters.

24. Trump as Lear
Wed Jan 24, 2024, 11:21 AM
Jan 2024

His "win" is reminiscent of one of the monologues from King Lear:

You see me here, you gods, a poor old man,
As full of grief as age; wretched in both.
If it be you that stirs these daughters’ hearts
Against their father, fool me not so much
To bear it tamely; touch me with noble anger,
And let not women’s weapons, water drops,
Stain my man’s cheeks! No, you unnatural hags!
I will have such revenges on you both
That all the world shall- I will do such things-
What they are yet, I know not; but they shall be
The terrors of the earth! You think I’ll weep.
No, I’ll not weep
.
I have full cause of weeping, but this heart
Shall break into a hundred thousand flaws
Or ere I’ll weep. O fool, I shall go mad!

edit=guess that would make MTG, Bobo, and Gaetz the "unnatural hags?"
