(81 posts)watch the Elia Kazan film called "A Face in the Crowd" starring Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal. The parallels with DJTs rise and hoped-for fall are striking. Griffith portrays the protagonist's megalomaniacal meltdown perfectly in the end. Don't be disuaded at the thought of "Sheriff Taylor" taking on a serious role. Critics say it is the finest performance of his career.

(14,216 posts)More importantly, losing it to such a degree that he drops significantly in the polls.
What does he have to say or do for that to happen? Because the MAGA cult has shown so far that nothing is too outrageous for them. Rape, insurrection, top secret doc theft....nothing

(12,880 posts)I guess there can be a lot of different variations of just what that description is depending on who you ask.
Maybe knocking over the podium & yelling at the crowd that THEY aren't doing enough for him?

(6,162 posts)He already told them that it's okay to die, as long as they vote for him first.
It really doesn't get much sicker than that... and they still love him.

(1,525 posts)My wife and I were discussing the exact thing - how can any women vote republican?
The party acts as if women don't exist, and, if they do exist, their opinions don't matter.
She is a school teacher, (primary grades) and she mentioned that classes that mostly girls are less chaotic than classes that contain mostly boys.
Her point was that more women in power wouldn't be a bad thing.
And it is true.
In our last primary, the gray haired old man took the contest, even though both his male and female opponents seem much more on the ball, energetic and enthusiastic.
But we ended up with the same old, gray old male.

(3,147 posts)Many women - mistakenly - believe that to vote R is because it's the Christian thing to do. I know I believed it for too long. I have held on to my Christian faith, but my political views took a major turn to the left over eight years ago.
In 2015-16, my sexual assault and the political rise of T**** happened concurrently. Everything changed!! The Kavanaugh confirmation was the final straw. I haven't voted for the Grand Old Patriarchy for anything or anyone since 2018.
If Haley is still in the race on February 21st, I will break my own rule and vote for her in the primary (early voting in Ohio starts that day). Of course, I will vote D all the way in the general, but the thought of casting a vote for a woman over T**** is just too delicious to pass up.

(1,409 posts)I don't think the women are running away from anything unless he's referring to the forced-pregnancy incubators fleeing red states. I think women and their allies are working to insure that reproductive rights are protected. Once that's taken care of perhaps the female residents of Gilead can begin to explore their inner Loreena Bobbit.

(1,736 posts)The campaign is underway and messaging has begun. It's a no-brainer. An actually successful incumbent against a loser and rapist in the previous election who brags about ending Roe facing 91 indictment counts. White supremacy can't save that.

(8,709 posts)Apparently there is a feud between Drudge and Trump. I dont know the specifics.
What's kind of funny is that Matt Drudge is from Takoma Park, MD, one of the most liberal areas in the DC Metro area.
