One of the more sentimental moments after last night's game. Travis is indeed a fortunate man. Makes the MAGAt men cry in their beer.
For this current power couple have much to contribute to the Election of their generation as well.

It's Taylor Swift not Tylor. Sorry

(17,575 posts)The power of persuasion she has encourages those who will be 18 by this next election to register to vote can be a determining factor.
Last June, my husband and I took the Light rail into St. Paul on the same night that Taylor Swift was in Minneapolis for a concert. The train was packed. Along with concert goers, were many mothers in tow. When we switched trains from US Bank Stadium(where the MN Vikings play), there were throngs of young women entering the entry gates. I read that Swift added yet another concert so that her fans would not be left out.
Taylor Swift and her generation of women have a lot to lose if Republicans seize power.

(3,223 posts)Taylor's first album was released in 2006. She was strictly country, and W was in office then. Then the infamous episode with Kanye at VMA happened in 2009. Her transition album (Red) and first purely mainstream pop album (1989) were released in 2012 and 2014, when Barack Obama was president. Taylor was already VERY popular and VERY rich.
Since January 2017? #MeToo happened, and Taylor was on the cover of Time with other prominent women who suffered sexual assault/abuse/harassment. After that, she began re-recording her first six albums because the (male) head of her record company would not let her have her masters. That was a genius move that is still paying off, and her new albums? Does she even need to do anything to promote them anymore?
Yes, she went into the stratosphere when he occupied the White House - because she was seriously fighting back against men in power. But her appeal has always been writing lyrics about female empowerment. They resonate!!
T**** has proven for the billionth time what an overgrown, petulant toddler he is - whining and crying when he doesn't get his way. He's just jealous that no one has literally broken Ticketmaster to see him. He is envious that he's not on the big screen like she is with her Eras concert film. He isn't majorly boosting the hospitality industry by playing at the biggest, most illustrious venues on the planet - and he HATES IT.
He is not at the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys and their parties because most people with industry clout who happen to be decent people would rather chew glass than be seen within a hundred feet of him. That's why the fundagelicals and incels will always make up his biggest fan base.

(66,955 posts)His coach is an "old man"? And you're lecturing others? How condescending of you to think Andy Reid can't handle his own players.
Reid is vital professional who still works 60+ hours in season. He's hardly a feeble elder who needs protecting.
Second, in the heat of competition, there are arguments on the sidelines every game. Coach to coach, coach to player & vice versa, player to player.
This 5 seconds of emotion from an uber competitive athlete is being made a mountain, when it's a anthill.
There's no history of criminality and his community involvement is laudable.
I also detect a sense, not necessarily from you but in other similar posts, that Taylor Swift needs to be protected, which is patronizing nonsense.
She's a billionaire performer/businessperson and can take care of herself.
There is nothing about those 5 seconds that establish anything insightful about his personality, other than he was highly energized in the biggest game of the year.
louis-t
(23,447 posts)Those are your words. I did not imply he's an old man that needs protecting. Where do you get off? I said he seems like kind of an asshole. I said, I think she can do better. If it was, as you say, only "5 seconds of emotion" then why did he apologize? I don't scream at an older person. You don't scream at an older person, do you? This is a well-respected coach that helped get HIM to the super bowl. Don't try to excuse loutish behavior. I watch a lot of football. I can't say I've ever seen a player talk to a coach that way.
ProfessorGAC
(66,955 posts)First, you are inferring he's an asshole based on that "5 seconds".
Second, your implications were clear whether you were conscious of them or not.
It's patronizing nonsense, and you doubled down.
That makes this conversation both tedious & over.

(1,139 posts)I think their feeble minds would have exploded if the 49ers won, but for different reasons. I don't mind that either team would have won, although the 49ers had not won it since I was 3. But then again, if you look at the NFL, how many teams would they like? Not to mention the fact that the majority of players are black. I could be mistaken, and correct me if I am wrong, but I think the vast majority of cities where NFL teams play would be too liberal for these weak-minded cult members.

(12,331 posts)I know many NFL fans that cheer for teams in cities or states that they have never been to. They remember watching them when they were kids, like the colors and logos or identified with a specific player. It has nothing to do with politics.
Same goes for college sports. Worked with someone from Michigan who was a die hard Georgia Bulldogs fan. He never lived in Georgia or knew anyone who attended school there. However, his fandom for Georgia only applied to football; he was equally as rabid for the Louisville Cardinals in basketball. Couldn't have cared less for Georgia basketball or Louisville football. I found it quite odd myself.

(1,139 posts)But given how many times we see certain people try to drum up some sort of "prophecy" or "conspiracy" involving certain cities, I mean, how many of these teams would the MAGA bastards support? Heck, they are the most vocal people saying that the NFL is "woke".

(9,269 posts)...after throwing to Kelce only once in the first half, Kelce caught 8, I think, in the 2nd half. Maybe that was part of the plan, or maybe the SF defense was.playing him real tight in the 1st half.

(2,239 posts)The first thing I thought was I hope he never does that to Taylor.
I don't care what MAGAts think about this. As a female survivor of domestic violence, I have to see this as a woman's issue. Look at his face! Inches from Reid's, screaming, after physically shoving him. I've seen that, up close. It's frightening.
Sure, NFL players and coaches, blah blah blah. I don't care what anyone says, that is wrong, and Taylor should think twice.
I mean, it's not like any NFL players have beaten up their wives and girlfriends, right?
onenote
(43,476 posts)Only someone who doesn't understand football would extrapolate from his interaction with Reid to an act of domestic violence on Smith.
And yes, some NFL players have beaten up wives and girlfriends. Many more have not even though they play the same violent sport. And, for that matter, many non-football players have beaten up wives and girlfriends, right?

(2,264 posts)... because this just confirms what they already feel.
I've read a little about incel culture (though I am by no means an expert). I think that they are a unique movement in that they hold themselves in contempt!
They feel that they get rejected by females because they are Betas, not Alphas. So of course the star athlete gets the pretty girl. The universe is unfair and women are unfair and woe is them that they are deficient. They hate women, the world, and most of all... themselves. They also hate their fellow incels if they manage to have a relationship.
Have there been other groups that openly had such low self-esteem, or did the internet make such a thing possible?
TSExile
(3,223 posts)The absolute WORST thing they can be is a beta.

(5,106 posts)They think women should go back into the kitchen/home where they "belong" rather than being independent, well-rounded, career women - so Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen (who they probably view as pure eye candy - cause modeling is not a "career" - it is being sexy for men to look at) is OK but Travis Kelce and a strong, independent, vocally feminist woman is completely wrong. There is, of course, no logic to it. They are angry that Kelce got the "girl" and they didn't but they don't want that particular "girl" because she's an evil feminist and not a true woman.
Fundamentally, they are pissed that women aren't desperate for marriage (because they can be independent) and willing to settle for them the way their grandmothers (and probably mothers) did. Anyone who they can't relate to on some level (Kelce is pro-vaccine, after all) doesn't deserve a beautiful girlfriend (even an evil feminist one) if they can't get one.
MorbidButterflyTat
(2,239 posts)they feel they do not have to change anything about themselves to become more appealing to women. It's all the fault of shallow women and there are only so many tall men to go around, so they'll be getting their women from another country, where women know how to be women, and no, he won't pay for your coffee!

(5,106 posts)from abusive spouses who want a divorce but have the attitude "I don't want you but nobody else should have you, either." It is very much a "I should be King" attitude - women are objects to be possessed and controlled. Women are supposed to be like mink coats - they should look good, keep them warm/satisfied, be something to show off to other men, and be put back in the closet when not wanted or when a new, nicer coat comes along.
