How was Biden's son investigated but Ivanka, Jared, and the Jan 6 plotters are still just ignored?
Two sources are communicating with House investigators and detailed a stunning series of allegations to Rolling Stone, including a promise of a blanket pardon from the Oval Office

(21,889 posts)Joe can replace Garland with Sally Yates, if she wants it.
Remember, Trump fired Sally because she would not enforce his Muslim ban. She has guts, in today's climate that is the #1 quality needed to be Attorney general.
Too late to fire Garland now. Would be different if he resigned.

(1,982 posts)It is unbelievable that these are the only images of this person. The cameras in DC must be shit. I feel like the person walks like a female but heaven knows Ive been wrong before. It would make my day if they found the person responsible. I would be soooo happy!

I can't tell much from the video below - if there are others I haven't seen them.
I know a lot of people complain about having CCTV everywhere but I don't have a problem with it

(829 posts)This person did a lot of backtracking and doubling back, going past a location and then coming back to it. I never knew about that. I'm really surprised the authorities were never able to track the person down. It sure seems to be a woman to me. Thanks for posting this.

Even some balance would be nice.
Maybe, I don't know, he could have told Hur to stick to the facts and leave his amateur medical opinions out of the report!
See, as frustrated as I get here some days, without DU, I'd be ranting to myself instead of to you guys! I feel less crazy knowing that there are others who understand.

Lynch, Loretta E. 2015 to 2017. ...

(23,301 posts)Like day 1, he goes and Sally Yates is appointed!! Such a win/win for American justice. Garland will be responsible if tsf is able to steal the election because he hasn;t been convicted. Garland sat and dithered and did nothing and tried to let tsf escape justice because he was too timid to do this actual job and protect us. Biden has got to see this and get rid of Garland if the terrorist doesnt steal the country first.

(10,330 posts)I really fear Garland will pull a Comey. I fear he will put out a letter or a rigged investigation or something even more offensive to Biden. But this time Garland would do it just 11 days before the election.
Garland seems to me to be one of those people who thinks they are so honest and impartial. And for the most part people like him are pretty reliable and honest. Except for when they are not. They have huge blind spots and weird loyalties to some very nasty people.
Looking at the kind of people Trump and Comey are. You would never think they would help each other out....well Comey help Trump a lot. I don't think Trump ever helped anyone but himself and he actually hurt Comey. But I doubt Comey thought Trump would betray him when he put out his Hillary email letter.
Irish_Dem
(49,982 posts)I don't know if Garland is actively helping Trump, it does appear that way.
Or if he has no judgment, social awareness, or ability to size up people.
If he has a weird loyalty to bad people that makes him complicit, he is an enabler.
And not suitable for employment in the criminal justice system.
It is hard to believe that Comey did not know what he was doing and how it would hurt Hillary.
Or that he did not have the measure of Trump. It was all done on purpose.

If someone in government is NOT protecting our institutions, then they are not worthy of working for them.

(1,061 posts)One of four criminal cases Trump faces, special counsel Jack Smith charged the former president with four federal felonies that accuse him of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Trump pleaded not guilty.
I would not say that Smith has endeared himself to the Republican party.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/9/20/us-attorney-general-rejects-republicans-political-influence-accusations
Our job is not to take orders from the president, from Congress, or from anyone else, about who or what to criminally investigate, Garland told the panel of United States legislators.
I am not the presidents lawyer. I will add, I am not Congresss prosecutor. The Justice Department works for the American people. Our job is to follow the facts and the law that is what we do.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2023/01/06/how-many-people-charged-jan-6-riot/10965483002/
In the two years since a violent mob forced its way into the U.S. Capitol, more than 950 people have been charged for their roles in the riot, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation continues to seek hundreds more.
"Our work is far from over," Attorney General Merrick Garland stated Wednesday, regarding the investigation into the deadly attack on Jan. 6, 2021.
Roughly 350 suspects remain on the FBI's wanted list of violent offenders at the Capitol that day, Garland's office stated. More than two-thirds are wanted for violence against the estimated 140 law enforcement officers assaulted that day.
Garland's office reports more than 950 have been charged. Roughly 230 of those were arrested in 2022, records show. But arrests continue, with at least 17 in December

(86,187 posts)...Jack Smith isn't going to complicate the prosecutions he's working right now to include ANY co-conspirator, except his Maralago cabana boy.
He not going to risk delaying the Trump election fraud trial which would be buffetted even more by challenges from perps and evidence discovery nightmares from their defense lawyers.
redqueen
(115,113 posts)because I see it as an ass-covering move. Smith has gone after the people who on the ground but not the ones who orchestrated or assisted from higher levels.

(21,889 posts)we had a local bar hopper, did odd jobs, was nice to anyone and everyone. I even gave him a ride home one night when he was plastered, he didn't want to get out of the car, wanted to talk.
We have a big doings on the 4th and Ed was lit up, he left the Sportsman's Club staggered across the street and our town cop nudged him into the back seat of his patrol car. He had some marijuana on him that fell out of his pocket.
The headline in our local paper was that law enforcement has cracked down on a major drug dealer. Ed didn't have 2 nickels to rub together, everyone laughed about the headline.
Hope the reporter's friends gave them a hard time about that for a good while

(9,770 posts)Garland did NOT investigate Biden and his son. He did NOT ignore the Mueller report. He did NOT ignore Jared and Ivanka's WH crimes. He did NOT ignore Trump's Covid mismanagement. He did NOT sit on Jan 6th insurrection. He DID investigate Trump for election interference.
All these are well documented and factual. Yet, Garland bashers ignore this, time, and again, and again, and again.
With the facts that the Earth is round staring them in the face, they keep insisting that the Earth is flat. How many times can you argue with THAT?
Jeez!...
