(4,982 posts)....and until or unless this is STOPPED at the federal level, voter suppression is only going to get worse. We need new election laws. Instead, our jackass bassackwards crap court is preparing to reverse the few we have instead of strengthening them or making new, needed ones to stop this shit.

(27,985 posts)Or just a photoshop? Either way, it is so true. Citizen's United couldn't defeat citizens united.

This really should be "Person of the Year." The resoluteness of these voters, determined to prove that their votes could NOT be suppressed, helped save this country this November! A relieved and grateful nation should always remember and be proud!
Now we have to make sure we build upon the ground we gained!

(10,030 posts)that's what I was thinking on Election Day.
It is so easy for me to vote (we vote by mail, and get our ballots weeks ahead). I honestly don't know if I could do the hours in line thing.
Thank you, those who endured this ridiculous situation rather than not vote.
On Edit: I hope Time magazine does this for real!

(9,463 posts)voting was a quick in and out for me and my fellow voters. But when I saw the lines in other more populated places, I was amazed and moved. To see that many people steadfastly refusing to budge from those seemingly endless lines with seemingly endless waiting to vote, I actually became emotional. It was a truly moving site despite knowing many of those voters wished to dash my hopes that Democrats, and President Obama and VP Biden, would win.

(41,208 posts)I am so grateful that in the UK, it is very rare to face such difficulties in voting.
I admire all those who faced all kinds of obstacles, and stood in queues for hours in some cases, in order to make a difference.
