Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg has bought a website address referencing former president Donald Trumps new sneaker brand and turned it into an anti-gun violence website with the ability to call lawmakers to advocate for legislation.
Mr Hogg, who is now the president of Leaders We Deserve, an organisation dedicated to electing young candidates to Congress, made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.
I just bought shoptrumpsneakers.com the activist wrote. I have redirected you to a page to call your member of Congress. The twist is the person who makes the call is a victim of gun violence whose voice has been re-created with AI to call for gun safety.

(17,314 posts)You literally have to type in the link. If you type shop trump shoes, his site doesnt come up. If you just type in shop trump sneakers, it doesnt come up. You literally have to put in shoptrumpsneakers.com. Not sure why Google plays those games because people typically put in subjects not website links.

(1,873 posts)Google isn't playing games, that's just not how search engines work. Even if the site had something to do with actually buying the shoes, it wouldn't show up in search results until there were a fair number of links to that site. It's work to get a new site to show up in search results! Trying searching for "SEO" and see how many sites are offering to help admins with search-engine-optimization .. which is what's needed to get your site to appear.
