Oh dear. NY Jets Quarterback runs into his own lineman's ass.

Even if you don't watch football, this is an instant classic. It's like the Wide World of Sports Agony of Defeat ski jumper guy. This video will define this guy's career forever.

And it is a riot.

During the first years of a the Atlanta Falcons, a quarterback named Randy Johnson had been hammered so much that he came up to the line in game and got behind the guard to take the snap. When he realized his mistake and moved behind center, the other team was laughing so hard the crummy Falcons actually got a decent gain.

Jeebus, how much do they pay these guys?

Something that all of us could easily do, just not on national television.

Fake one thing, do another.

Of course I wasn't in the huddle so I could be wrong.

If you watch closely you can see that it starts with a handoff to nobody: one of the backs missed his assignment. Sanchez realizes he has to run the ball himself, there was no pass option, and runs smack into his right guard, who was being driven straight into the developing mess by the brilliant Vince Wilfork.

Despite being clobbered, Sanchez had one pick and that fumble, threw for 300 yards and a touchdown, and never gave up. His career is over, but it is the jets that suck, Sanchez not so much.

“I was thinking a different play in my head,” he admitted, when asked about the obvious miscommunication between him and his running back on the fumble.

“That was a mental error there. As soon as I realized there was no one to hand it to, I headed toward the line and bumped into Brandon. That was real unlucky, sliding into my own guy when I was just trying to get down.”
