So only if Trump wins the election then he'll be the one that gets immunity. If they actually rule that Trump has immunity before election day there will be to much anti-Trump backlash with people trying make sure he won't become dictator.

about Garland since it was always border-line whether or not I was breaking a rule by not about supporting Dems. It was safer to stay quiet than going through that all the time.

He's been on several times in the past few hours, and the timeline has been discussed at length. He said that if the SC doesn't act immediately after hearing the case in April, it may be too late, but it still depends on timing. If they wait to issue their ruling until June, the timeline is very short.

Adjustments would need to be made either in the prep time allowed to the Trump team (currently planned as 88 days) or the trial length (currently planned for three months). If those adjustments can't be made, then it's running up against the date of the election.

I'm providing what was actually said rather than the simplistic, kneejerk assertions made in the OP. That simply is not what was said, and the discussion has literally being going on for hours, several shows in a row.

If you want to make childish assertions and ignore what was actually said, that's your prerogative. It's clear that you haven't the first clue what I've said on the subject.

I've been watching MSNBC since the news first broke, same as you. I think people tend to pick up on the things that jive with their own opinions (I do it myself, for sure), so it doesn't surprise me that some people are seizing on the most negative comments that have been made by Weisman and others. I completely understand that, especially at a time like this, when people are so upset and worried. But it can still be hard to deal with.

130 days to decide if it will hear the immunity appeal. Jack Smith asked the SC to take the case after the district court ruled, the SC said no, send it on to the Appeals Court, the Appeals court rules, then the Supreme Court decides it will take the appeal.

Early voting begins after Labor Day. What about that DOJ memo that has never been challenged that DOJ can't interfere in an election. There is a debate whether the time frame is 60 days or 90 days prior. Do you really believe that Merrick Garland will allow a trial to start in August? July?

It's over.

Once again; GOTV.

Like a couple years in the past, they’ll drag it out into July before their ruling comes out. They deliberately sent this back to the circuit court (delay) when they didn’t have to. Now they’re having hearings?!

The corruption on this court can’t be ignored

If there was any chance they’d actually grant immunity, so that the corruption was beyond merely buying time for Trump, then SCOTUS would grant such immunity only if and when Trump was sworn in as President. This immunity would not be granted in a way Biden could take advantage of it.

This has been set up for a long time. Rush Limbaugh openly advocated for Republicans to corrupt the judicial system to protect them from the surges of "liberal" voters after it became clear they were incompetent to govern. It was their way of making sure conservative values stuck around. And here we are.

The only thing I can say is that I hope this lights a fire under Democratic and independent voters to see how necessary it is to get out and vote, and then stand guard over the counting and certification process like hawks because they are going to cheat.

Once the delay has made pre-election trials impossible, they will allow him to pardon himself the day he takes office. In other words, he will be allowed to grant himself immunity.

But he needs to win the election first. Expect a replay of 2020, but this time with actual election fraud and lots of extra violence.

The system is what it is. The pace is the best it can do. Any attempt to go faster would be rightly regarded as Garland trying to "get" Trump. It would be a sure and certain L for justice.

The W will happen when it happens.
