(18,748 posts)I didnt see any other vehicles enter the bridge before the collapse.
The ones I saw were all right to left so if cars were going the other way they werent visible.

2) my god The Francis Scott Key bridge is one of the main highways that forms the beltway of Baltimore. The collapse has been called a mass casualty incident and it is unknown at this time how many vehicles may have been on the bridge at the time of the collision & collapse. https://wtop.com/baltimore/2024

(6,265 posts)According to the CCP:
1: The US attacked China during WW2
2: The US has always tried to destroy China
3: American companies exploit China and only the CCP can protect them
4: The US CIA started COVID
5: Americans in China are all spies
6: The US is a dangerous place because guns, drugs, and black people
7: Americans are stupid because their education system isn't good

(22,850 posts)Generally, large ships are guided in and out of harbors by a pilot who is supposed to be intimately aware of the local currents, tides, channels and other local data. I think the ships Captain is still responsible for the vessel but Im not certain of that.
Along with the possibility of multiple deaths, the loss of the bridge will cause severe travel problems for the metro area. Additionally, the harbor may be blocked.
A terrible tragedy and disaster.

I wonder if losing power and slowing down before it was hit indicates technical issues. I was looking for the ship in the videos and couldn't see it since it is so large it looked like the horizon and a long hill behind the the bridge. 20 people are missing says CNN.
This guy's channel is good. I remember on Oct. 7th I learned about the attack in Israel from this guy and posted it on DU right away.

(11,073 posts)happening so late at night probably resulted in fewer deaths. Of course it never should have happened at all.
I remember when a barge hit the Webbers Fall bridge in Oklahoma. That incident occurred in daylight.

(10,257 posts)Why in the world would they leave it open? Surely someone had to realize inspections should be done to make sure the bridge was safe, before they allowed traffic back on the bridge.

I can't imagine the fear of the people in those cars. Hoping that they somehow got out and survived.

(2,633 posts) Search ongoing: Two people have been pulled from the water following the collapse; one was in serious condition. Rescuers are searching for six construction workers who were working on the bridge at the time of the collapse.
