I know this is the least of our problems, but Trump really scares me when he

looks angry. He reminds me of my first impression at age 11 when I saw photos of Hitler.

Not just angry but dangerous, likely to harm indiscriminately.

Not confusing threat with real harm. I mean intention to harm and to continue until stopped.

But he's still dangerous because of what he inspires in his followers. He doesn't have to personally be "tough". Deranged people are often dangerous.

He has lost touch with reality. In his truly ugly head he sees himself as some all powerful dispenser of justice.

Unbelievable. In my wildest dreams I never saw anything like this coming.

even though we've seen such leaders crop up all over the world. It isn't all that uncommon, but we naively thought it would never happen here. For some reason, we thought we were above all that.

As much as I've had a low regard for most republican politicians over the years, I would have never imagined so many would bow so easily to one who is so outrageous and yes, dangerous. The lack of character and scruples has been stunning to witness and from seemingly intelligent and well educated people. Except for a small handful, it appears that there is no line they won't cross to preserve their place in government.

I know there could be Putin style blackmail involved with some of them, but it can't possibly be all of them. They apparently are just too weak to stand up to a mob-style bully.

threat that comes with crossing him.

I think they are just hoping he will self destruct. And it looks like he might.

Seriously, what kind of monster would harm family members like he does. He pts out names and addresses so his mob can go after them.

How courageous of them, just sit back and cower and hope he'll self-destruct. In many respects, that makes them worse than he is.

I have been impressed however by how many Democrats have stood up to him, even when they've been faced with threats from the MAGA base. If my family was in possible jeopardy, I'm not sure how I would react, though I'd like to believe I wouldn't back off.

I thought of Republicans, I thought more of them by miles (okay, some yards) than turned out to be true.

I actually believed Republican Senators would be a brake. The complicity/capitulation has been astonishing to watch.

Except for some of the extremists, I really thought the traditional republicans were more grounded and as you said "would be a brake". I suppose that is because of what I witnessed during Watergate. Shoot Barry Goldwater urged Nixon to resign because he assured him he would be impeached if he didn't.

I just assumed that we still had republicans like that. Of course, we don't know all that Putin has done behind the scenes. He is a master at kompromat and bribery. Apparently, he couldn't manipulate Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, or Adam Kinzinger, but damn, there should have been so many more.

All of his persecution rhetoric aimed at judges, DAs, anti-Trump republicans, Biden, etc keep the base stirred up and perpetuate the threats.

It's the only 'campaign strategy' he has and it works...

Usually when he's playing the victim card like a spoiled child who doesn't get what he wants, or might have to face real consequences for bad behavior.

It's not an expression of power, but of powerlessness.

Except, perhaps, to incite stochastic terrorism by his cult. But he does that more often with his usual lies than fits of rage.

It's pure WWE showmanship. He's a coward, always has been. It's why he's always had to cheat on everything. He knows he can't perform in real life, so he does the same shit every bully does, he acts tougher than he really is, better than the really is, smarter than he really is. He's a hollow shell imitation of what he projects.

Considering he thinks and acts like a toddler on a regular basis, this isn't such a large step.

Still beyond infuriating that there are so many people who believe that this creature is capable of rational thought, let alone running a country.

That is the face of a cruel, dangerous monster. When he first showed up on the political scene, he had more control over his facial expressions, but over time, he has gotten meaner and more hateful looking.

I suppose that now we are seeing who he really is and that is the face of nightmares.
