The speculations and proposals start. While some assume that the Republicans now have a chance for younger, post baby boomers faces, some lament that the front runners are two geezers: Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.
But suggesting Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York is ridiculous. We have elected only two senators to be presidents: JFK and Obama. While JFK had Lyndon Johnson to twist arms in Congress, the President had harder than needed time to pass the Health Care Act and others because of his lack of experience and understanding of how Congress works. Also lack of personal connections.
So back to governors. NY Andrew Cuomo and Maryland Martin's O'Malley. Also Montana Schweitzer.
At this point, I think that O'Malley has a longer and more solid track record but perhaps New Yorkers, Marylanders Montanans can add their input.
With elections so expensive, I don't think that starting to plan now is too soon. We know that the Republicans are aching for revenge (though not sure exactly for what..)
