The Biden campaign manager has told me they expect the race to be close. Imagining otherwise is incredibly naive and dangerous.

...if for no other reason than: being caught misrepresenting the situation would risk losing support from the campaigns top-dollar supporters (and I'm one of them)

I've had detailed briefings on multiple occasions. A close race is a perfectly reasonable assessment.

I remember they used to hold conference calls and lay out the path to victory. Multiple times over the weeks leading up to the election, Jen O'Malley Dillon, who managed Biden's campaign, said that their polling was not matching the national polls that were showing Biden up by nearly ten points and that they were looking at a 3-5 point victory nationally.

Some suggested she was downplaying things to keep the base motivated but she was correct.

I see no reason the campaign this go around isn't telling the truth there, either. There's zero indication this election will be a blowout.

The only reason there seems to be one is because someone has kept the last one running for three and a half years.

the people with whom you surround yourself.

The titleholder is basically the public persona of that team.
