Judge Merchan knows how to keep it real

This is the basic stuff of civilization:

You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well... but at the end of the day, I have a job to do and part of that job is to protect the dignity of the judicial system.

Merchan said Trump’s actions “constitute a direct attack on the rule of law [and] I cannot allow that to continue”:

So as much as I do not want to impose a jail sanction…I want you to understand that I will, if necessary, and appropriate.

Trump will violate the gag order again. I think the few hours in a holding cell at the back of the court will be the first option. Then an overnight stay.

clown is to change your attitude on a dime and go nuts. Worked with my ex. He was certain of my response and I went 180 degrees the other way. Total shock on his part. Come on, judge, you can do this

he thinks he’ll b a big martyr and on every front page for days.
he knows few will use a pic of him in handcuffs, let alone an orange jumpsuit. at least not for more than a day.
he’s too stupid to know just how viral those pics will go.
bring on the frogmarch, ffs. we’ve been waiting 20+ yrs to see a thug get what’s coming to them.

I understand there are cells in the same building. Following a day in court, let him bloviate to the press. Then quietly whisk him away, lock him up for the night, and bring him back to court the next morning. No phone, no photos of him in the cell. Might that work?

... letting him do his press conference first. Why should he get that luxury?

For that matter, I don't know why it is happening in the first place. Who's paying for it? If he wants to leave the court and talk on the courthouse steps, fine. Just so long as it's on his own dime.

But I do agree in making him entertain the Press on the courthouse steps, and wonder if it's indoors on his insistence or if it was something the courthouse normally allows.

Then if he says no, he'll know he's lying. He won't say yes because that's telling the truth and for a compulsive liar that's hard.

I think he should just keep fining him. He can't stop violating the order and the court can use the money. Let him.

Jail time isn't a deterrent for a psychopath.

He could hang him upside-down from the courthouse flagpole and he's still going to ramble shit and violate the order.

It's the compulsion of a psychopath and he's an idiot.

They believe that laws don't apply to them whether they are indicted and in court or not.
