While celebrities are putting on their best for the Met Gala, protestors are hitting the picket lines.
Protesters in support of Palestinians amid Israel's war in Gaza made their voices heard outside of the Met Gala.
Students from Hunter College, roughly a mile from the Met Gala, marched with signs calling for their university to "divest" funding. "We will not stop, we will not rest," the students chanted, per videos shared by reporter Katie Smith on X.
In another video they chanted, "There is only one solution."

Sympthsical
(9,238 posts)That history books are not a thing that has happened very often with this crowd. Even if they mean something else, the contextual implications would be enough for any sane person to steer incredibly clear of phrases like that.
And it's also the problem when you mix in with Intifada types. I've seen them get these kinds of chants going - very aware of the subtext - and then brainless students following along.
It's like you're just waiting for people to materialize at a Nazi rally because they like the outfits.
That said, this protest is the epitome of yelling at people who Do Not Give a Fuck. The protestors think this about them? Oh ho. No no. This is the Met Gala. This is celebrity time. This is for them. The peasants have nothing to do with this one. This is the ultimate me time for famous people.
They'll have their publicists throw out a few crumbs later maybe. But they're not giving this protest a second thought. They've got their minds on the cameras and the goodie bags, rest assured.
