Trump wins in 2024. Fills his entire administration with his family members.
He's term limited so in 2028 Ivanka runs and wins. Trump stays in the White House around as her "shadow president" until he strokes out or drops dead. And in 2036 Barron takes over.
Total nightmare fuel.

Barron is a Trump delegate. He can refuse and be his own man. If he accepts, he's one of them.
There are a lot of my own family members I don't speak to because of their support for Trump. Do you think Barron deserves a pass from me after accepting a Trump delegate selection?

We will know once he opens up and actually says a few sentences.
But the looks of lack of interest and disdain he has shown in public aren't good signs.

(19,663 posts)And I wont be coy about it. Supporting ones father, or any relative for that matter, in their quest for political office is generally considered a good thing. The exception is when the politician in question is such a universally agreed upon POS, an insurrectionist, a con artist, a liar, a classified documents thief, a racist, a misogynist, a sexual predator, just to list a few of his deficiencies, then continued support of said miscreant must result in calling into question the moral and ethical foundation of the supporter. How many Kennedy relatives do you see rallying around Bob? The kid got one shot at avoiding the Trump stank. He failed.

For pity's sake, how many hints do you need? I can give you some more:
When he was younger and servants displeased him, he would tell them, 'You're fired!' His trashy mother would send that servant home for the day, rather than punishing the anchor brat. She was the one who revealed he'd done that, and thought it was cute and funny. With that kind of parenting, do you think he learned how to be a decent human being rather than a spoiled brat?
His own family says he's the most like his father of any of the anchor brats. Do you consider that a good sign of what to expect of his personality?
Again: When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

(2,332 posts)As a child. More than once. And send the 'offending' servant home for the day, and deem their spoiled anchor brat cute and funny for what he did, rather than punishing him for being an obnoxious prat.
No matter what our ages, if my brothers or I had been remotely rude to our nanny or to one of the maids my Mum started employing when we were teens, we would have been ground to dust for it. Even my toddler brothers knew better than to tell the nanny she was fired.
Then again, even my narcissistic Mum wasn't so stupid as to be rude to someone helping her out, despite how they were paid to do it and despite how much she was stressed from paying for them when she really couldn't afford it--as if single parents have a choice about it. It really is true that good help is hard to find, so when you do get a winner, the last thing you want to do is alienate them.

(1,873 posts)Of course hes getting into politics. If your name is trump youre not losing any election for the next decade in the GOP and those trump children will be able to grift the party for the next 20 years. From a financial aspect it makes sense.

(60,192 posts)... what everybody already knows: TFG has taken enough primary wins to be on the first vote. So what? Being a delegate at the convention is more a useless honor: that and a quarter won't even get you a cup of coffee. He's given no interviews, he's made no statements, for all we know Barron hates TFG as much as it seems his mother does. He may be a closet Democrat for all we know.
And then, by the way, he is 18. At his age both Hilary Clinton and I had volunteered for Goldwater. Look how we turned out.

I don't understand all this sudden white hot animosity toward Barron for basically no reason. I guess it must have been there all along and people were just holding it in because of his age. I don't get that, either.
If he does something obnoxious, I won't try and stop anyone from criticizing him, but this delegate thing doesn't even come close to being worthy of that. So far, his worst crime is having been born to the wrong parents. Shaming him for that is just gross.

(33,983 posts)I think people are just curious to know where he stands in all this.
Maybe he'll change his mind later but right now he's supporting the GOP which means he's supporting his dad.
Barron's position is understandable, but I think some people were hoping that he despised his dad, just like some people really want to believe that Melania secretly hates trump and is only there for money or something. It could be that Barron is just trying to secure his inheritance, assuming anything is left.
Personally speaking, I won't apply my own logic to their situation. I will observe and form conclusions based on their actions.

(60,192 posts)Personally speaking, I won't apply my own logic to their situation. I will observe and form conclusions based on their actions. I just hear heard that sage advice from a good Democrat.
What I observe is an 18 yr old who's never indicated a stand on anything is going to the convention. His sister is going, too. She's been to some TFG's political events and so much as I know, has never taken any political stand she's made public past supporting her father.
Those two voting for dad in the first ballot (does anyone really think they will make the difference) is purely proforma. Trump has aced his primaries and he'll take the nomination in the first ballot, unless something intervenes first, like a conviction or a stroke.
https://www.usa.gov/national-conventions
National conventions
Political parties hold national conventions to select presidential and vice presidential nominees. Learn how the national conventions work.
What happens at a national political convention?
To become the presidential nominee, a candidate typically has to win a majority of delegates. This usually happens through the party's state primaries and caucuses. Learn more about state presidential primaries and caucuses and how delegates are selected.
State delegates go to the national convention to vote to confirm their choice of candidates. But if no candidate gets the majority of a party's delegates during the primaries and caucuses, convention delegates choose the nominee. This happens through additional rounds of voting.
At the convention, the presidential nominee officially announces who will run with them for vice president.
Personally, I will bet that Mitt Romney and Nikki Haley will end up being the ticket.

(60,192 posts)Are you Goldwater's child? WTF is that supposed to mean?
Screw the GOP. Fuck their convention. Technically TFG already has the votes to take the nod on the first ballot. Two TFG kids will make no difference either way.

(10,649 posts)from what little we know, he is supposedly rather bright in a scattered kind of way. He is rumored to be on the upper end of the autistic spectrum, but those are just rumors. His big interest is supposedly in the computer field. This would certainly square with the rumors of him being upper-end autistic, but it could just mean he's a computer nerd. He's also said to be socially awkward, but quite a few kids who have sudden growth spurts are, simply because they're physically awkward., and he's rumored to be shy, and that would also go along with the rest of what I've said.
