Just pass a law that anyone who donates more than $100 to a candidate or PAC automatically gets audited by the IRS.
(yeah, I know that's not going to happen)

(1,153 posts)Or a million, or a billion. Our concern is the people with enough money to buy elections and have undue influence. $100 is a small donation. We should have more of those.

(70,535 posts)imho howard dean changed everything w his bat. the party was falling into the grasp of big money more and more each cycle. nowdays, its small donors who float most dems.
i think citizens shd b encouraged to participate in any way they can.

(111,591 posts)I'd say anyone who donates more than $1000 to a PAC should get a tax bill for the overage. If they've got that kind of money to throw at propaganda outfits, they can certainly afford to pay more of their fair share in taxes.
Donations to candidates are limited, so I wouldn't touch those. The PACs are the problem, thanks a lot Citizens United misrule.
Big money donations from scumbags like Thiel and the Kochs would dry up overnight if it meant a bigger tax bill, these old boys deeeply resent supporting the country that made them so rich.
