(14,903 posts)...we need to hear what the world leaders think of Biden, not just tv stars.

(34,592 posts)I mean ... there's only so much he can do to influence our election. But he's willing to do whatever he can.
That's what I call a "good neighbor." God bless him!

(12,726 posts)Trudeau framed it just right. We should thank our lucky stars that we have a president with such a depth of knowledge about the world and such a steady and principled approach to its problems. The stability Joe has largely created allows pundits, pols and reporters to blissfully navigate cocktail parties and cable-show panels with serious-sounding concerns designed to salvage their fading relevance.

(18,684 posts)Somewhat analogous....the best boss I ever had wasn't the most talented or smartest. He simply had a good grasp and acceptance of what he didn't know. And relied on, respected and rewarded those of us on his team who did know.
Life doesn't always promote those who are best or brightest. Trudeau got to where he is in part due to other things. Sometimes just the life lottery. But he is smart enough to know one of his colleagues has been there, done that, and has a closet crammed with tee shirts. He's smart enough to respect and value that. Those who don't...our scribbler class....disgust me.

(14,292 posts)He's facing his own "step down" storm. Polls have him losing to our version of Make Canada Great Again conservative candidate Poilievre in next year's election. We don't have a two term limit here. But your limit is a good thing. Folks just get naturally tired of one leader here and just want change for change's sake.
I'm sure he's dreading the insult laden vitriol from the US if Trump wins again. But he'll only have to endure it for a year if that happens. He's losing by something like 12 points in polls. I'm bracing myself for a Conservative majority here for the next 4 years at least. Heavily influenced by the MAGA movement to the south of us.
I can only imagine the shitshow if we had a Poilievre/Trump partnership for North America.

I hope the pendulum swings back quickly - because there are some changes that cannot just be backed away from.

(1,556 posts)It's a shit show now in Canada. MAGA has come to the True North Strong and Free. So disappointed in my fellow Canadians, many are spewing such ignorant vitriol and hate. Have they always walked amongst us and we didn't know? Loathe Poilievre almost as much as I do Trump. Sad times.
