I've really f-ing had it with the ageism re Biden.

It's become downright insulting. Biden is clearly still lucid and up to the task, but the media refuses to let it go. Suddenly Trump is the golden boy rather than the orange boy and his advanced age and delusional ramblings aren't even mentioned. If you haven't already emailed your Congress people and senators, do it. Tell them to STFU and get on with the job of beating Trump in November.

It's not so much the age of the President as it is the race and sex of the Vice-President. The conservative press is nothing if not prejudiced against women of color, especially those in authority.
The media bosses want women, especially non-white women, put beneath right-wing white male losers who think they're entitled to power.

now blabbering about Adam Schiff telling donors that if Biden runs, we lose. Here's a hot flash for Schiff. If he doesn't shut up, we'll definitely lose. Then, of course, they'll blame it on Biden. Cornell Belcher said it best. He said more damage is being done to Biden by Democrats than was done during that debate.

the polling is showing that the dem base is sticking with Biden. The dem base has way more to lose than Schiff does if tRump gets back into the White House. I'm glad I'm not in California because I would have a really hard time voting for Schiff because of his outrageous, poll ignoring, anti democracy behavior. He obviously doesn't want to put in the work it's going to take to defeat tRump and the fascists so he should step aside. Schiff has got the tRump fascists and the pro-GOP media cheering for him.

Not individuals but as a group. "Biden is too old" is an easy narrative to push. And they enjoy making fun of his age. They love to make fun. If you think I'm kidding, Matt Taibbi wore a gorilla suit to a Kerry rally, then went on the Daily Show to talk about a doofus Kerry was. Then there was Margaret Carlson talking about how fun and entertaining it was to go after Gore.

They really don't know what it's like being older. (I'm over 70 myself.) Joe is older, no doubt. Does that mean he can't do the job? No.

Experience counts way more that those with little of it can perceive. I've been young and I've been old, and I know older is way smarter.

Americans don’t handle the idea of death very well, at all, and are generally phobic about anything related to death and dying. Thus the omnipresent obsession with youth in our culture and the marginalizing of those over a certain age.

The truth is death eventually comes to us all.

He couldn't stand it so he's back to work by choice. He's self-employed with a home office so that makes it an easier choice, but you just have to keep on keeping on. I'm 75 and last Friday we were moving new furniture into the house (found a place with great prices, but they didn't deliver). He's been working on replacing a window and tomorrow we have to hoist that thing into place. As long as a person can keep going and wants to keep going, they should be allowed to keep going. Think Betty White.

I recall concerns about age related dementia. These concerns were likely left over from the experiences we had with Reagan.
And McCain had cancer but that's another issue.

Of course it's no secret that DU skews to the upper age bracket so it isn't surprising that we have shifted our acceptance of the value of the elderly here.
