(41,015 posts)He is always the smartest person in the room. And he has a sense of humor too.

(7,599 posts)ever since. voted for him in California primary.
incredible speaker, erudite, articulate, cogent, with a great sense of humor.
And although he is quite an intellect, he never talks down, condescends or engages in word salads.
I'd love to live long enough to see him as President, but our culture is too effed up with maggat infestation.

(6,837 posts)We have so many really good leaders that can help steer all of America through this. Obama said it better than anyone in recent years, it really does take everyone. From local mayors all the way to the federal government.
"Mayor Pete" is exceptional. He's been honing skills in a part of government that doesn't generally get any attention. He's been good at pulling attention to an under-served part of government that affects everyone.
Think. Again.

I think he has a bit of a slippery tongue. He speaks easily of things he wants us to believe about him, but that he only says because it's what he thinks we want to hear.
I think he sees himself as the next generation Trump.
In other words, ego driven, power hungry, and full of BS right up to his ears.

(640 posts)He did not by the way grow up in a poor Appalachia home. He was born, raised and graduated from high school in Middletown, OH. Not anywhere near any of the Appalachia counties. Hillbilly is a derogatory name. But the ex ambassador to the United States from the Vatican that the Pope excommunicated seems to have undue influence in southern Ohio for some reason.

He spoke to a bipartisan group of senators, I believe, shortly after he was appointed Secretary & even the republican ones were impressed with him.

(1,030 posts)He definitely needs to get out there in front of the camera as much as he can between now and the election. He even got Maher to pay attention, stop interrupting, and even laugh. No small feat!

(3,987 posts)Good grief he totally nails it here. Pete is awesome. He's so right about the "flavor of the month" (my term) Republicans too. They'll say anything and do anything for power.

(6,735 posts)He was born in Middletown, Ohio. a suburb of Cincinnati, and definitely not part of Appalachia.
It's more of his BS hype to get people to think he's a good old boy.
