In my city (in Oregon) the law is political signs can only be up two months before elections and taken down within 7 days after. It keeps it less political around here but on my morning walk I noticed a brand new Harris for president 2024 sign up a month early. I think people can't wait, normally I never see signs this early.
And I live in a red city in a blue state, so I am feeling the excitement.
What I see all the time is a few Trump flags and the one neighbor who has a Send Trump to Prison flag.

(12,088 posts)Listening to her talk about Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee yesterday I realized how powerful it will be to have a woman president. Joe has been wonderful and gracious in supporting her to follow him.

And I really feel like Democrats have a plan to keep building the momentum.
I do think some of the excitement is relief. I think people were really on edge with Biden falling behind in the polls and then 2 Sundays ago went over the edge when he dropped out. I took several phone calls that day from panicked friends and relatives sure that this was the end of our democracy. DU was carnage. It took about 8 hours of pure horror to realize that there was a really good plan in place.
And I think today, 12 days later, you won't find anyone who doesn't think Harris has a much better chance to beat Trump than Biden would have if he continued. Harris is pulling ahead right now, that is clear to see. Long way to go though, but it feels like we've got a better than 50-50 chance now at saving the republic. Never seen the party working together on this level before though. Everyone has come together to defeat facism.
