Steve Martin challenges TFG to a debate. With a few conditions...

My modest debate proposal:.
I'll debate Trump any day ,inclusive of tomorrow.
I'll shall have the banjo of my choice.
Trump shall have his invisible concertina.
A portion of the debate will consist of a dance-off.
Neck ties shall not hang down below the participant's knees.
There will no use of " anonymous horses".
Likewise ,any statement that begins with " many people say" will result in a mild electric shock directly to a body part chosen by the opponent.
The language used will be American English, no foggy dementia inspired gibberish.

There's likely a personal and professional reason why Steve Martin, the wild and crazy one, mostly keeps his political opinions to himself. It doesn't matter why he does this, just that he has the choice to do so.

This Steve Martin doesn't respect that decision. He should have included a qualifier as to his real identity. Not good.

As a celebrity, but some rando on the internet told you that you couldn't go by that name in public or online?

It's quite silly to assume that the guy is impersonating the comedian when literally tens of thousands of people have Steve as a given name and Martin as a surname. I imagine there are literally hundreds of men named Steve Martin out there. Are they supposed to change their names for you because one of them happened to get famous using that name?

This dude is named Steve Martin. Are you saying he should be forced to go by a different name because someone famous shares a really generic name with him?

His Twitter bio makes it pretty clear he's not the comedian:

Unless the comedian Steve Martin is also a lawyer and also named broadcaster of the year in 2018.

If it's the guy's real name, he has every right to use it for his Tweet account.

Do you know the man that you can speak to his intent--about anything? Do you seriously think only the one Steve Martin could play the banjo, or should be allowed to? This guy is apparently from somewhere near Cincinnati, for pity's sake. That's next door to Kentucky, where banjos are quite popular.

What is wrong with you to think you can judge or dictate to anyone about their name or interests?

Good grief--it's not even you that has the name or the hobby, so why are you being so judgemental about and defensive over people who are so wholly unconnected to you?

This was in the late Sixties/early Seventies. He used to do a truly bizarre routine in the campus coffee house. Bad puns, vile Limericks and musical riffs...often combining all three into one bit. When the other Steve Martin showed up, at first I thought it would be him...until I saw him.
