noun. The state of being free to watch millionaires hoard money, to make it more inconvenient for low-income people to vote, to eat spoiled food, to trick paranoid gun owners into buying more merchandise, to inhale polluted air and drink contaminated water, to use a major news network as an arm of your party, to close down public schools, to have Christian principles shoved down the throats of non-Christians, to deny gays the right to marry, to pay workers less, to intrude into what a woman does with her vagina, to drive on roads full of potholes and bridges that are about to collapse, and to start wars.

Ex. 2012 was a disappointing year for liberty, as President Obama was re-elected and the Republican Party lost seats in both Houses of Congress.
