Dame Maggie Smith, star of the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey, has died at the age of 89

I’m in the middle of re-watching Downton Abbey for the umpteenth time. Her portrayal of the Dowager Countess was masterful.

Downton Abbey is my mental comfort food. I love the scenery, the costumes, the characters and the dialogue.

Her character was a racist white woman who learned better.

The best Dowager Countess ever. But she did so much other great work throughout her life - she'll be missed.
