He would need more than he's ever had.
I don't see that happening. It's certainly not happening in early voting. Trump has not gained any new support. His base is static. His ceiling hasn't changed.
Hope this cheers you up, and enjoy your weekend.

(15,509 posts)then why even bring that up? What does your post have to do with the OP? If DU is just this bastion of men-bashing, then what are you doing here?

(8,302 posts)In 2020...
Trump won men 50% - 48%.
Biden won women 55% - 44%.
Source: https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/06/30/behind-bidens-2020-victory/
So, yes, the OP's point was still correct for 2020: more women voted for Biden than men voted for Trump.

(35,864 posts)Numbers for the white subsample only. You are right for the full sample. People of color offset the advantage that Republicans had among white voters.

(1,779 posts)I agree with it 100%
but
A couple months ago I saw a post by you about facial hair on men. You said it looked and smelled like armpit hair.
As a man who has worn a beard his whole adult life
Ive voted for Democrats at least 22 times in National Elections while wearing a beard
I was, of course, personally offended by your post.
My star membership to DU had expired two days prior to reading your post. It was the DU fall fund drive. Middle of the DNC convention.
I decided, based on your post, and the lack of reaction to it that I would not be contributing to the support of this website anymore.
Ive seen other posts by you that might indicate a fairly strong misandrist bent.
If youve changed, thank you. If Ive misunderstood you, I apologize.

(11,433 posts)He hasn't gained any significant new voters since 2020. Attrition reduced the overall numbers.
Plus, the last time voters came out for him was before the insurrection. I guarantee that alone lost him a lot of moderate conservatives and independents who voted for him in 2020.
He has lost a lot of support. Joe Rogan and Elon are his hail mary passes. He just doesn't have enough to overcome the deficit.

(35,864 posts)So he will likely get more votes in 24 than previously. But so will we.
There is a HUGE number of eligible voters who did not vote in 2020. I hope we are reaching more of them. I sent postcards to swing states and the organization said millions of postcards were mailed. Lots of folks are canvassing and calling. GOTV!

(27,669 posts)That being said, Harris has a similar lead with women, and I think there's little doubt that women are quite motivated this cycle.

He would need a massive turnout. More than he's ever had. That's just not going to happen.

(16,472 posts)It could be that his support is baked in and the rallies don't matter, but I think he is losing people. They might still vote for him, or (hopefully for us) they abstain.
It can't be good that he stands them up all the time (3 + hours late yesterday).

(4,138 posts)and I don't know enough to sort that in one box or the other. I want to throw the statement away with all those that say abortion is a non-thing this election. IOW, one more statement to just demoralize us, and nothing more. But not being male, nor black, I honestly don't know and can't put myself in that situation.
I do know there is so much disinformation out there this time around that everything seems scary, even when it shouldn't be. We're seeing such overwhelming support in early voting, news stories about polls being owned and subsidized by Trump, himself, etc... And honestly, when it come right down to it, I just can't see the American people overthrowing democracy for communism. The magas are a lot more numerous than I'd originally thought, but even then they're only about a third of the republican party. This country is divided as much as we've ever been, but being divided ideologically doesn't mean everyone is willing to throw out the baby with the bath water. I just can't see Americans being that dumb.
I can see Trump causing so much disruption and chaos that SCOTUS and law enforcement feel compelled to insert itself. And that, more than anything, is what worries me. WE may not accept SCOTUS' viewpoint, but that doesn't mean the rest of government will represent us by dissing the court. The guardrails are failing with every crime spree T gets away with.

(303 posts)Most of the brothas I talk to are all in on beating Trump. The media is hyping up a few malcontents and grifters/scammers to lay the groundwork to blame Black men if Kamala loses just like Black folks were blamed for Hillary losing. It makes me angry that the media does this every election cycle around the Black vote. We will do our part but there will always be some leakage in the votes of every demographic.

Trump needed to make up that deficit. He did not.
Dobbs made it even worse for him. He doesn't have the math.
