I'm 16. On Nov. 5 the Girls Cried, and the Boys Played Minecraft.

This election, voters sent many messages, but perhaps one of the most disturbing is to young women that their lives and futures simply don’t matter. This election was all about men and boys and how they needed strong models of masculinity because young white men are being left behind. Girls and women, according to Vance and other Republican candidates, were destined only for motherhood. They should just forget their dreams for careers and economic independence.

“Eight years ago, I was too young to feel the full force of Hillary Clinton’s loss. Now at 16, I’ve had the wind knocked out of me. On Wednesday, I was flush with anger — but it was diluted by an even stronger feeling: defeat. I saw it in the eyes of women in my subway car that morning. I saw it in the barista at the coffee shop on the corner, the female security guard at my school and in the face of my history teacher.

In a terrible way, I’ve never felt more part of a sisterhood or more certain that pain is shared within that family. I wish the consequences of this moment for young women punctured the apparent indifference of so many men and boys I saw that day. I wish they could breathe in what the women and girls I know have been inhaling since Nov. 5.”

they don't really believe we're equal. And we must live among them, and accommodate them, but can never completely trust that they won't harm us if it keeps them dominate.

Sorry this is so dark. Worked hard for Kamala's campaign, tired and discouraged.

Too many women, especially those in religious cults, are brainwashed to believe that only men have the brains and the authority to be leaders.

When i was a kid, the TV showed the actual exit polls as they came in. They basically never varied from the election outcomes.

Funny thing is that starting around 2000, that changed. The exit polls became farther off from election results with every election. For one election you could click a button and see the unadjusted results or the adjusted results. Now, you have to pay money to see the unadjusted numbers.

Instead they pretend that the most important function of exit polls is…wait for it — to understand what motivated the voting choices of different identity groups.

That last glass ceiling is just as intact as ever, and that girl and all women were just reminded that no, actually, you can't do everything. When I was 16 my future was supposed to be a few years working as a nurse or a secretary or an elementary school teacher, followed by marriage and children. But the women's movement was just getting going and I saw a different future; I went to college and ended up working in two different male-dominated professions. I'm retired now, old enough that I'll never see a woman president, as this election showed me. The young author of this excellent, heartbreaking piece might not, either. Those kids just got set back 50 years.

He didn’t say what they had won. He was so obnoxious I’m sure he never gets laid and it wasn’t the men that won. It was the boys. I hope they will enjoy each other because we won’t have anything to do with them.

stinking education'. They walked away from it and the better jobs that usually came from advanced education. Others who wanted to be educated stepped up to the plate.

Either way, NOTHING was taken away from these crybabies.

That is a path and organized education for those who want to pursue a trade instead of college. Many high schools abandoned shop classes years ago and some trades schools no longer exist. We need a system similar to those in many European nations that offer both a college and a trades path.

What enrages me is that the right has vilified and demonized higher education with increasing fervor over the last 10+ years. The result is fewer white males attending college--even community colleges where trades education is still available and affordable. Then, they turn around and, with a lift from the media, blame Democrats for "leaving young men behind."

Programs including fully free tuition at what used to be called vo-tech, then community, colleges have been implemented and rules have been changed to allow shop teachers to come from the licensed trades, too.

Democrats here still hold both houses of the legislature and the governor’s office, so good things are still possible!

was taken away from the very same party they voted for last week. The Republican effert to gut Americam manufacturing might, which was enthusiastically transfered to Asia, starting in the 80's, was the greatest betrayal of the millionaire class, now the billionaire class. That devastated men who where going into vocational careers.

bring in one of the Latinos who work on a local farm to the polling place. He spoke spanish, at first, to the worker and told him who to vote for, but then the latino dude started asking him questions in english. The red neck told him how to mark every race, and it was all for republicans. Then he came to the county commissioner. The red neck said to vote for the democrat (who I know), and the latino dude says "but I thought you said to vote for all republicans"! The red neck dude said, "yeah, we did, but I know this guy: he's a friend of mine, so we'll vote for just this one".

I reported that to the poll worker in charge (a republican woman), and she smiled really big and said "well, he filled out the proper paperwork, so it's legal, but thanks for reporting it!".

There were all manner of republican TRICKS that were pulled off for this election, but the bottom line is, Harris/Walz WON, and everyone is falling for the news that is more toxic and widespread than covid.

He got his army of flying monkeys to find right wing judges to appoint Trump supporters to county election boards. Of course I can’t prove it but I also ran into an issue and reported to the chairperson of the county board and that person got hostile with me for reporting the issue. She claimed to be a Democrat.

Convince a group of people that the only way they can get ahead is to tear another group down.

In my nearly 30 years in the Navy, we used to say those people were they one's that "could only make themselves look good, by making someone else look bad".

We were taught that was the absolute worse way to conduct yourself.

One of the great lessons I learned was about pronouns.

When my Department did something well, you used the pronouns "we, us, and our". When we screwed something up, you used the pronouns "I, me and my".

Everything I have learned my entire life has been invalidated.

And we will triumph again.

People need to stop being whiny losers, and start to push back like our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers did.

A handful of politicians and the incels from 4chan can't stop progress...they can only delay it temporarily.

My reply to anyone who posts here to argue with me: Quit whining and start working. 2026 will be here before you know it.
