CBS reporting shooter was young man in 20's from New Jersey.

According to CBS News, the gunman, who is believed to be 18 to 20 years old, got into an argument with people at the front office at about 9:41 a.m. People have to be buzzed in before entering the school and there is a camera to view whoever is entering the building.

22. Eyewitness report per NECN (brace yourself)

Eyewitness report: there was an announcement happening over the intercom. Over the intercom, there was then a scream, and then gunfire. The kids were told to close their eyes when they were led out of the school so they would not see what was in the hallway.

I'm 5 miles from that school and less than a mile from the Danbury Hospital. Watching all my local news stations, saying at least 18 children dead, and 9 adults. Shooter is dead. Local news saying that eyewitnesses claim "over 100" shots fired. I can't stop crying and I think I'm going to throw up. I know dozens of people from Newtown.

Since the shooter live on Yognanda Street, this is most likely his mother, the kindergarten teacher.

then went to the school, where he killed people in the office, then went to his mother's Kindergarten classroom and opened fire. It gets worse with every detail.

Mom was a Kindergarten teacher.

Shooter killed dad at home, then drove to Mom's school. Killed some people in the school office, then went to Mom's classroom where he shot everyone. 18 students dead. 3 in hospital.

7 adults killed including mom and dad, but unclear whether that includes the shooter, who is also dead.


A uniquely community scarring crime. Many of the parents of the victims will know each other. There will be a street with at least two victims, etc..
