know quite a bit about this particular need, first hand, too.

And controlling guns without addressing the ROOT CAUSES of violence will only cause the violence to morph into other manifestations.

We NEED to begin by admitting that we need and WANT to take care of one another, so we should provide opportunities for people to begin to address their own problems - themselves - with widely established availability of appropriate mental health resources - NOT JUST THE MISBEGOTTEN CHURCHES, which is the current knee-jerk response to these issues.

And Obama must make it so that law-abiding citizens who may wish to own a gun for protection and self-defense should be forbidden to do so?

students and themselves.

Banning ownership is not the answer, because it won't work.

AND it'll just be treating symptoms without being honest about ROOT CAUSES of violence, most of which begin and end in families who, in various ways/dimensions/levels, are OUT of resources. Teachers see all of this first hand, so I don't blame them for feeling more threatened than you or I.

Because as it stands right now, the regulation part is a miserable effing failure.

More importantly, guns are not revered.

Sadly, the friggin gun stores will be full tomorrow of yahoos drooling all over popular lethal weapons marketed to appeal to their baser instincts. And the carnage goes on to delight of gun culture.

Under the Corporate Power Sharing Agreement, The Republicans are scheduled to re-take the White House in 2016 anyway.

Your proposal will make it EASY for them to sweep in 2016.

Every time one of these whatever you want to call them rifles is used in a shooting, the cops call it an assault rifle, tell us it was purchased legally and the gun folks tell us 'no, those weapons are already illegal'.

So please. Go argue with the cops. I don't give a FUCK what you want to call this gun - it was used to murder kindergarteners today. So arguing about what it's called seems pretty pointless.

And you now have the opportunity to do it before the next one. Or they die too. And the ones after that. And the ones after that. And the ones after that. As you sit on your hands and hem and haw about not "politicizing" the issue.
