On 9/11, a horrified country united.
And as a result, Bush was able to take the country in terrible directions, toward a doctrine of pre-emptive war, evaporating civil liberties, and even torture.
Today is Obama's 9/11. It's time to stop tweaking around the edges and celebrating compromises that simply make things less bad. It's time to start making things right, beginning with telling the NRA where they can put their guns.

It may be a crass way to put it, but the only solace anyone might be able to take out of this tragedy is that maybe something good can come out of it. And that's my point... Obama should not let this go to waste. Nothing will bring back these kids, all we can hope for is that somehow the country is made better for it. You know, the opposite of what Bush did to the country out of that other disaster.
