Gun control is like the war on drugs - a good idea in theory, but practically non enforceable.
The larger problem in this country is its love of violence and inability to provide proper mental health care, and when you combine the two you get days like today.
Personally, I don't like guns. I use them in my job, but I have no love for them by themselves. I don't try to defend it as a right, but as a practical matter, it's going to be impossible to make any law that would prevent a day like today from happening in the future.

Mentally ill people don't go for help like someone with the flew
Cops bring them in after some incident.
That mental Heath meme needs to be retired. It's just used to give gunners cover

(454 posts)partly because there's not enough in the way of free services available. It also doesn't help if their friends and family don't suggest they get help.
In this society we all need to look out for each other, and when people feel isolated and scared, they're more prone to violence.
