Remove one word and look for the answers

Folks talk about gun violence.

Remove the word gun and look at the real keyword - violence - rape, robbery, domestic abuse, beating up people over sexual orientation, etc.

It has been around since the days of cain and abel (only 6,000 years ya know), or more precisely since humans walked the earth.

Mass killings over wars, thousands of kids killed in Iraq for example.

The wealthy looking for more money (oil/etc), the religious over land and god, the most destitute out of desperation trying to survive, people wanting power, the list goes on....yet some will point to one branch on a tree and proclaim that if we get rid of that all will be well.

I have entrusted our officials with many weapons, I own no guns, and yet my own money has went towards killing many innocent people - and now I am supposed to be afraid of my fellow citizens more so than those 10% who are in power and wealthy? Those same 10% who start wars, have armed guards, and would like nothing more than to keep telling me and you that we are the problem that they can save us from?

To me it is not about being pro/anti gun. It is about finding and solving the root causes of the things which lead to violence such as we have seen today, and other days, and bringing such things to an end.

Equality for all. Living wages. Removing poverty and homelessness. Treating and helping those with issues they are dealing with and being an open society that wants to fix problems and not trying to find an easy solution that removes the tools but the hard solutions that remove the causes that such tools are misused for.

If you want to kill people - get elected, get wealthy, and start wars or 'police' actions. You won't have to worry about all those kids dying all over the world from your sanctions, cutting off food and medicine aid, drones, depleted uranium, bombings, etc.

It is not guns that worry me. Nor the millions of people who own them in the US.

It is the fact that we turn away from all of the other murders that we work each day to pay for and that kids thousands of miles away that die don't deserve the time of day here and in the media.

Guns are not the problem. We are.

on removing guns from the issue of deaths caused by guns.

It's rather like after a devastating wildfire roars through the forest and some people want to prohibit discussing campfire restrictions and roadsigns telling people not to throw lit cigs out their cars.

I am not for making them the cause when they are only the method.

Every other country in the world has less than 100 gun killings per year and the US has 20,000.

Do you STILL think guns are not the problem?

How can you justify that claim in the face of such staggering numbers?

Murder rate low and yet murder rate by gun astronomically high EQUALS guns are a massive problem and removing them from the equation would have a huge impact.

You completely ducked my question and the numbers.

So until we are fixed as a nation, we should rethink our gun laws. Perhaps guns should have chips in them to be tracked, and make school areas red zones that sets off alerts to 911. It's time to put pro gun people on the defensive. We all have to live near these nuts, so I want my government to be able to track them like a cell phone. And when you fire your gun, it's recorded like a call.
