Barf alert!
The deadly school shooting in Connecticut came less than 24 hours after Michigan lawmakers passed legislation that allows those with concealed pistol licenses to carry guns into schools and other once forbidden places.
Proponents of the legislation said if the bill is signed into law, it will give people the opportunity to respond to crimes and possibly stop a similar situation.
This kind of tragedy is hard to process, but if one person a faculty member or a parent could legally carry, at least it could have limited some of the mayhem, said Rob Harris, media director for Michigan Open Carry Inc., on Friday. This legislation has to be passed to at least have a fighting chance against the evil in this world.
No, what is evil is the way Michigan is being turned into a right wing mess...we do not need more guns, as apparently this teacher owning some really did not help her or her students.
Not even 24 hours, and the NRA seeks to gain ground, while whining that Obama cried over dead children.

(1,788 posts)First, this is a person who has never been in a classroom. I've volunteered many times in my kids classroom. Any grown up would have been taking care of the children....not trying to shoot someone.
Second, my husband is in the Army, knows a few things. This line of thinking makes him so mad. People have to train long and hard to know how to take someone out. Let's not forget the cops in NY. They shot at a person many times. They injured other people, and these are trained people. Just because you have a weapon doesn't mean that you will be able to aim and shoot a person when you are being threatened, fearing for your life and the lives of those around you.
