I posted earlier, asking if this was America's "Dunblane". I guess not too many knew what I meant, but for those interested here it is.
In 1996 this shooting of 16 schoolchildren and their teacher spawned new laws in the UK banning sale and possession of handguns.
A gunman walked into the school gym at the Dunblane Primary School in the morning and sprayed bullets from four weapons at random, killing 16 children and their teacher. One of the 12 other children who were wounded later died in hospital.
One student who survived the carnage later told UK media: "We heard these gunshots from the gym and looked round and thought he must be firing at a target or something then he came out through a fire exit and started firing at our huts and we were all petrified."
Most of the child victims were only 5 or 6 years old.

(36,437 posts)arguments, up to and including repeal of the 2nd Amendment from people that you'd least expect that from. It's running something like 95% immediate and comprehensive reform of current gun laws, and massive increase in enforcement.
People have had enough.
This is a tipping point, and I never say such things lightly. I am very conservative in my political predictions, meaning I usually take the position that not much will change. For me to say that this event will produce a movement and massive transformation of our gun culture takes a lot, but I see it. The pro-gun arguments, which - I'm fine to admit - had won the day for the last 20 years, are over. the gravy days of the NRA are over. People are fucking furious, and it's political and conscious.

(11,619 posts)The second amendment can no longer be allowed to trump all other amendments.
Guns and gun ownership must be regulated. We can not allow the militia to murder children.
